Watermelon Slim @ Lincoln Drill Hall Saturday 7 April 8pm

Lincoln Drill Hall are proud to present Watermelon Slim Saturday 7 April 8pm

Bill “Watermelon Slim” Homans is an extraordinary blues man and the Drill Hall Team are thrilled to be welcoming him to the Drill Hall for this special concert. Harp Magazine wrote ‘From sizzling slide guitar…to nitty-gritty harp blowing…to a gruff, resonating Okie twang, Slim delivers personal working-man blues with both hands on the wheel of life, a bottle of hooch in his pocket, and the Bible on the passenger seat.’ Paste Magazine said ‘He’s one hell of a bottleneck guitarist. The most exciting and authentic blues performer I’ve heard in years.’
Don’t miss this chance to see such a master blues man practising his craft!

Steve Knightley + Phillip Henry & Hannah Martin

Lincoln Drill Hall Lincoln Wednesday 29th February 2012 from 8:00pm
Tickets 01522 873894

Show of Hands inspired frontman Steve Knightley, hailed as one of England's finest songwriters, sets out on a UK tour in February, hot on the heels of his debut live solo album release 'Live In Somerset’ Playing at Lincoln Drill Hall on Wednesday 29 February supported by Phillip Henry & Hannah Martin.

Steve Knightley is the songwriting force behind the phenomenally successful acoustic roots duo Show of Hands as well as a fine singer and musician. From a rock background, Knightley is known for his strong narrative songs (many inspired by people and places in his native West Country) and cogent, inventive lyrics. His rock style rant Country Life and anthemic rally call Roots were both nominated for Best Original Song in the BBC Radio2 Folk Awards, whilst Show of Hands have won the categories Best Live Act and Best Duo. At the 2010 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards Steve won the coveted Best Original Song category with his topical and widely acclaimed song aimed at bankers and MPs – Arrogance Ignorance and Greed. Steve's 2010 solo appearances include Glastonbury and Larmer Tree festivals. See more info at steveknightley.co.uk  Youtube link  http://youtu.be/HUCuFBYnLWo

Steve will be supported by Phillip Henry & Hannah Martin. Phillip plays slide guitar, dobro, harmonica, beatbox harmonica & chatturangui. Phillip is a figurehead for the next generation of English slide guitarists. His virtuoso playing encompasses 360 degrees of influence. He has studied the Delta blues bottleneck for many years and has developed a touch reminiscent of Ry Cooder. Also, Phillip's astounding harmonica technique is inspired by Sonny Terry. Completing and complimenting this feast of music is Hannah on fiddle, banjo & vocals.

New Release by Dead Wolf Club - Check It Out!!!

New Release by Dead Wolf Club

Label: Scene Not Herd Release Date: 1 February 2012

Dead Wolf Club are: John Othello (vox/guitars), Alwin Fernandez

(guitars), Martha Supajirawatananon (bass), Serra Petalle (drums)

This is DARK PUNK!!!!

Martha is constantly knitting... Serra is the Honey Monster... Dead Wolf Club specialise in loudness,
quietness, darkness and light.
Check out Dead Wolf Club @ www.deadwolfclub.com

These 4 sonic teenage tykes met on a plane heading for Paris and hail from Tintagel home of
King Arthur and Merlin. Their songs deal with the inner struggle and turmoil of mortality and the fire
we need to keep burning in order to survive, mainly through the clashing of a broken down
relationship with a cherry 2000 and probing into the schizophrenic mind of Philip K Dick.

Building themselves a reputation as a vitriolic live band, from the debris of smashed guitars Dead
Wolf Club rise to present their debut album.

The band draws their bulk of influences from knitting, tea, comics, cardigans, Nintendo consoles
and the crumbling city that is London.

The album encapsulates the two years John, Alwin and Martha have known each other and their
joint love of pop melodies alongside loud guitars colliding against a punk ethos. Martha, John and
Alwin encapsulate, on their record, a perfect pop dynamic that works aggressively against a
backdrop of frantic guitars, delay pedals and often delicate yet intricate drumming.

In a time when style and posturing seems more important than the actual art of songwriting, Dead
Wolf Club are somewhat attempting to break that trend. We’re not sure why they’re so angry
mind. A lot of that anger points to a dissatisfaction with the an ever disillusioned London, with News
at Ten & Not What it Seems somewhat if not wholly influenced by loneliness, longing for goodness
and the unfairness and economic struggle that encompasses the western world currently.

Despite their angst, they switch between dark and light at ease and don’t allow themselves to get
pigeonholed with one sound. And maybe to their detriment, Dead Wolf Club will not pander their
sound to anyone or any trend.

Tracklisting:

1. Headful of Horrors 6. Wave

2. Radar 7. Disappear

3. News at Ten 8. Collosus

4. Allison 9. Not What it Seems
