Saturday 22 September 8 pm Darius Brubeck Quartet
Join the celebrated pianist and his acclaimed band for an evening of South African jazz, Dave Brubeck hits, new takes on old standards and original works. Saturday 13 October 8 pm National Youth Jazz Orchestra
NYJO is a glittering showcase for the country’s best young musicians and known for its unique swinging big band sound which can be enjoyed by non-jazz audiences and jazz-lovers alike. They have been voted the best Big Band in the British Band Awards on no fewer than four occasions and as John Dankworth reminded us, ’Forget the word youth, this is one of the best bands you will ever hear’. They played to a sell-out audience at the launch of the redeveloped Drill Hall back in March 2004, so don’t miss this opportunity to see and hear this remarkable band here again! Tickets: £16 (£14 concessions / £8 students)

Friday 23 November 8pm  Tina May with The Frank Harrison Trio
Tina May remains the most expressive and technically gifted of the current wave of female jazz singers. Tina’s introduction to jazz started during her university days in Cardiff and Paris when she also developed her theatrical bent for comedy reviews, performing with Rory Bremner. Tina however, concentrated on her musical aspirations and singing jazz for a living. She is a delightful entertainer who quickly develops a close rapport with her audience.
Frank Harrison is best known to most jazz audiences as a member of Gilad Atzmon’s ‘Orient House’ band, but here he shows his versatility by providing Tina with perfect support plus some wonderful piano soloing. Tickets £14 (£12 concessions / £7 students)
