KIERAN GOSS

with special guest ANNIE KINSELLA

Performing @
Kirton Town Hall Live

Friday 22nd May

Long hailed as one of Ireland's leading songwriters KIERAN GOSS  is the next artist to appear at Town Hall Live.  He will be accompanied  by Annie Kinsella.  Individually they are both gifted singers, but when they sing together magic happens, their harmonies and their chemistry together are just sublime.
Kieran has played major venues across Europe and shared stages with the likes of Mary Black, Rodney Crowell, Beth Nielsen Chapman and Kimmie Rhodes.
His songs have been covered by many major artists and whilst his songs have made him a star, his live shows have made him a legend.  Rodney Crowell, a long time friend and collaborator gives this endorsement ' I have toured with Kieran and watched him perform many times.  I have seen him win the hearts of everyone in the room, not just with his great songs and instinctive musicality, but with his warmth and humour.  Kieran Goss is one of Ireland's natural treasures'
In November and December 2014 followed up a 30 date concert hall tour of Germany and Switzerland with reunion concerts with the legendary Mary Black at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall.
In may this year he embarks 19 date tour of the UK and his concert in Kirton is the 12th date of the tour.  Don't miss it because make no mistake, Kieran is one of the most gifted performers around today.  He has an amazing ability to reach out to the audience an connect with them in a special way.  This guy is the real deal.
Support will come from North West duo Mairead O'Donnell and Lorna Bird.  They have been part of the UK music scene since the 90's and recently returned after a short break.  Mairead provides melodic guitar for the two perfectly blended voices.

Advance tickets are priced at £12 otherwise £13.50 on the door. Tickets can be obtained from the One Stop store in the town, from Brian on 01652 649230 or from www.wegottickets.com

Then next time at Town Hall Live ...

THE GOOD LOVELIES

Friday 26th June

For our June concert we welcome back The Good Lovelies to Town Hall Live.
It is exactly two years since their last appearance and their return is eagerly awaited by many of our audience.
The Good Lovelies are Caroline Brooks, Kerrie Ough and Sue Passmore.  They will be joined on their short UK tour by bass player MJ Dnadenau, who played at THL with Amanda Rheaume last September.
The Good Lovelies are funny, upbeat, with just a pinch of sass.  They sing text book three part harmonies, with each member taking it in turns to sing lead vocals.  During their set they constantly swap guitar, mandolin and banjo throughout their set.
They will be showcasing songs from their soon to be released 4th album 'Burn The Pa

Advance Tickets for this concert will be £12, and can be obtained from the usual outlets.

The latest news from Simpson∙Cutting∙Kerr

Murmurs will be released 8th June

"Outrageously great album from Simpson∙Cutting∙Kerr.
'Dark Swift & Bright Swallow' is amazing. It's stunning and beautiful.
And timely. All things great folk should be."

Rob Cowen, author 'Common Ground'.

The debut album from the wonderful new trio SIMPSON∙CUTTING∙KERR will be released on Monday June 8th on Topic Records. Murmurs was recorded in January this year and captures all the excitement of three master musicians having musical fun together. The album will appear on DL, CD and a limited edition Deluxe CD/DVD set. It’s a collection of songs that communicate to the listener a sense of bonded musicianship, a real feeling and empathy for each others’ playing and a collective love and innate understanding of the music. Recorded with award-winning producer Andy Bell, the combination of traditional songs, such as ‘Fair Rosamund’ and a stunning ‘Plains of Waterloo’, and original compositions, including ‘Dark Swift’ and ‘Not Even The Ground’ makes for a compelling listening experience; stories are told with instruments played by these masters of their respective crafts, but this is no showcase, more an expression of the joy of playing and singing between three absolutely intuitive musicians.
“It is so incredibly exciting. Andy and Nancy have been brilliant. The whole project is sheer joy!”

An advance single from the sessions – Dark Honey / Ruben – is released as a vinyl 7″ single on Monday 11th May.
‘Dark Honey’ is Nancy Kerr’s reflection on the human influence on our fast-changing ecology, informed by a summer of bee swarms in her inner-city garden, and the story she heard of bees collecting the sweetness from discarded cola cans and subsequently producing the dark honey of the title.
‘Ruben’ is an exclusive non-album track, available only on this single. A spirited and spiritual banjo-led reworking of the American folk standard ‘Reuben’s Train’, it is the lament of a traveller riding the railroad, penniless, longing for a home far out of reach.

"We’re not even halfway through the year but we’ve already seen a number of astonishingly high quality records from many quarters; even so, Murmurs stands head and shoulders above much of this extraordinarily stiff competition. By anybody’s standards it’s a top-notch album by three of our best musicians and, if there’s any justice in this world, will soon find its way into the collections of all self-respecting fans of folk music."
