Denys Baptiste Quartet - Denys Baptiste - Saxophone, Nikki Yeoh - Piano/ Keys, Larry Bartley - Bass, Rod Youngs - Drums
After almost two decades experience at the forefront of the British and European Jazz scene, Denys Baptiste still brims with the confidence of a youthful spirit. With a stellar band that fires on all cylinders and a new home at Edition Records, Denys’ career continues to grow and blossom. The Late Trane is his powerful and commanding new album, reimagining and reworking ten carefully chosen compositions from John Coltrane’s late music (from 1963 - 1967) with a fresh and modern new interpretation.
Elliot Galvin is a gifted composer and pianist, whose maverick imagination and magpie like ability to blend a disparate world of influences into his own unique musical vision, has seen him compared to Django Bates… although in truth he sounds like no one except himself. From de-constructing standards, to creating his own micro-tonal melodica, Galvin’s music is both playful and deadly serious drawing on a wide range of influences from Keith Jarrett to Stravinsky, Deerhoof and The Beatles as well as the films of David Lynch, and the literature of James Joyce.

Saturday, September 29th
Jean Toussaint - Jean Toussaint - tenor sax, Mark Kavuma - trumpet, Ashley Henry - piano, Daniel Casimir - bass, Ben Brown - drums
Grammy-winning saxophonist Jean Toussaint first came to prominence when he joined Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers in 1982, after studying at The Berklee College of Music in Boston. Since moving to London in 1987, Toussaint has released ten critically acclaimed CDs as a leader.
Arthur O'Hara Trio - Electric Bass - Arthur O'Hara, Tenor Sax - Chelsea Carmichael, Drums - Ed Harley
A London based Jazz, Funk, and Rock trio, drawing influences from artists such as Thundercat, Sons of Kemet and Janek Gwizdala. They performed at the Love Supreme Roundhouse festival and were described as a "festival highlight".

Sunday, September 30th
Alina Bzhezhinska Quartet - Alina Bzhezhinska - Harp, Tony Kofi - Saxophone, Larry Bartley - Double Bass, Joel Prime - drums
Originally from Ukraine/Poland and now based in London, Alina Bzhezhinska is an internationally renowned harpist. She has performed with leading musicians such as Shabaka Hutchings, Django Bates, Miguel Atwood-Ferguson and the Glasgow String Quartet.  Her Quartet led the 80th Birthday celebrations for Alice Coltrane around the UK in 2017, and their appearance at the EFG London Jazz Festival in a special triple bill featuring Denys Baptiste and Pharoah Sanders - A Concert for Alice and John - has been nominated for Best Live Experience of the Year at the 2018 Jazz FM Awards. Beat Replacement is a modern jazz fusion group led by the UK's rising drummer talent, Jamie Murray.  With a solid groove style and an open minded approach to free experimentation, Jamie and his band bring a heavy amount of fire and intensity to each performance- with Zhenya Strigalev 'exploring and pushing the limits of the Alto Saxophone', David Preston playing guitar 'like a man possessed', Tomasz Bura 'injecting heartfelt beauty and colourful soundscapes' and Kevin Glasgow filling the background air 'like a sonic boom'.

"They're all such amazing players. It's a rare thing these days, but they do it with finesse and style and it's never showboaty, just pure class" - Chris Helme (Seahorses)
Westival Mark Harris 2
2017 marked the first anniversary of the band, as well as the release of their first 7-track EP, Love is the Weight. The trio has been busy sharing this first offering with their burgeoning audiences across the UK and are looking forwards to releasing their first full length album in 2018. Not only are they capable of writing and arranging top drawer songs, they have the additional instrumental chops to go with it. This trio will soon be causing a stir. Wonderful musicianship and superbly well-arranged material; Stillhouse completely captivate their audience from the first note they play.
"Rich with the tone and feel of dark Americana, but the vocal style, lyrical content and wry humour set it apart. The production and performance is polished; a confident release from a talented band of musicians." - FATEA

Here's what their fans say...

2018 sees King Pleasure & The Biscuit Boys celebrate a remarkable 30 consecutive years on the road. Clocking up over 6500 performances in 21 countries in that time, King Pleasure & The Biscuit Boys are more than just the world’s greatest jump, jive and swing band – they’re an institution!

We recently asked the band's fans to tell us what some of their favourite memories of watching the Biscuit Boys over the last three decades are. Here's just a select few of the dozens of responses we received:

"Going to Warwick Castle to see a classic car show & discovering the band entirely by accident. They carried me away with such swing they make a trebuchet useless!"

"Cleethorpes Jazz Festival - early 1990’s. My best friend Charlotte and I were around 14 and danced from the moment you started! I’m 40 now and seen you several times since. You’re still awesome!"

"Hard to choose a favourite, because every time has been fantastic. Had some fabulous nights with my family enjoying KP & I love taking new friends to see them, knowing they are going to have a great time too. Probably my favourite has to be at the Hare & Hounds where I danced so much I couldn't walk the next day!"

"Watching them as the openers for the Blues Brothers Band. They kicked butt!!"

"Dancing with my partner between the seats because we couldn't sit still"

"First time at the Buttermarket, Shrewsbury, I was entranced and thrown back in time with the pulsating rhythm which took my breath away, and found it impossible to keep my feet still"

"I was gobsmacked with the musicianship and stage presence of these guys, great laughter as well."

"Sitting down watching the band on a Sunday at Y Not every year since we started going, best band at the festival"

You too can bring some of these good times and members of the KP Fan Army to your venue or festival - contact Tim Jennings on 0121 454 7020 to book the band (available late 2018 and throughout 2019)
