RIP Suze Rotolo

US artist Suze Rotolo, the girlfriend of Bob Dylan during the early 1960s, has died aged 67.
Suze Rotolo will perhaps be best remembered by Dylan fans as the woman walking arm-in-arm with the famous songwriter on the iconic cover of The Freehweelin' Bob Dylan album, Rolling Stone magazine reported.
Just 17 when the pair began dating in 1961, Rotolo was the muse behind many of Dylan's early love songs, including Don't Think Twice, It's All Right, Boots of Spanish Leather and Tomorrow Is a Long Time.
Born and raised in Queens, Rotolo appeared in Martin Scorsese's 2005 film No Direction Home: Bob Dylan, a documentary which focused on Dylan's early career.
She died in New York on February 24 after a long illness.

Lincoln Stages It's Very Own Bob Dylan Birthday Show!

 “Bringing It All Back Home”

The Bob Dylan Birthday Show
Tuesday 24th May 8pm Tickets £5.00
Lincoln Drill Hall Cafe/Bar, Lincoln Drill Hall, Free School Lane, Lincoln. LN2 1EY
Bob Dylan (born Robert Allen Zimmerman; May 24, 1941) has been an inspiration to musicians, songwriters and fans alike for five decades.  A number of his songs such as "Blowin' in the Wind" and "The Times They Are a-Changin'" became anthems for the US civil rights and anti-war movements. His early lyrics incorporated a variety of political, social and philosophical, as well as literary influences.
We are going to celebrate Dylan’s 70th birthday as well as his life and works on his actual birthday. It will take the form of a ‘pre-booked open mic’ type event where local musicians are invited to play their versions of two or three of their favourite Dylan songs.
The event will be hosted by your very own Coffee Bar Cowboys and is presented in association with bluecrow music.
(Musicians who would like to pre-book a spot should email admin@bluecrowmusic.co.uk with contact telephone number)

Unreleased Weather Report

The 40th anniversary of the founding of Weather Report in 1971 brings several treats for the band's fans. Joe Zawinul's estate is to issue three previously unreleased live recordings by the group through 2011.

The first, on 28 March, presents a 41-minute broadcast performance from the Berlin Philharmonie in November 1975 featuring Zawinul, Wayne Shorter, Alphonso Johnson, Chester Thompson and Alex Acuña. Live in Berlin, 1975 (Art of Groove MIG80020) is a two-disc CD and DVD set. The same audio is also available in a special vinyl edition (MIG80021).

Next up, on the 30 May, is a complete live concert from Cologne in 1983 featuring Zawinul, Shorter, Victor Bailey, Omar Hakim and José Rossy. Titled Live At Rockpalast, Cologne 1983, it will be available in two separate versions – 2CD (MIG80052) and DVD (MIG80057).

The last release, for the latter part of 2011, is a complete live concert from Offenbach in 1978 by the band with Jaco Pastorius and Peter Erskine. Live At Rockpalast, Offenbach 1978 is also in two versions – 2CD (MIG80092) and DVD (MIG80097). The video has been issued before, as part of the Forecast Tomorrow box set, but this the first discrete issue of the audio.

The recordings will be distributed in the UK by
Proper Note.
