"The UK should consider itself very lucky to have such a talented quintet in its shores" - ★★★★ ~ Songlines

"Flamenco at its finest" - Folkworld

With their debut album release on the World Music Network / Riverboat Records label in 2014 and a 5 star review in Songlines Magazine, ‘Calaita Flamenco Son’ are available for UK dates in the Autumn 2016. Half of the members are based in the UK and the other in Spain, they are a tight group with energy and spirit. Brought together by Seville born singer Chico Pere, UK based guitarist Glenn Sharp and percussionist Leo Paredes, ‘Calaita Flamenco Son’ offer authentic flamenco perfect for any event / venue or festival. Their live concerts include both traditional flamenco palos as well as more contemporary flamenco rumbas written by the group. From passionate and sorrowful seguiriyas to vibrant bulerias and rumbas. ‘Calaita Flamenco Son’ are Chico Pere – voice and guitar, Glenn Sharp – guitar, Leo Paredes – Percussion, Diana Castro – voice and Matt Nickson – flute and saxophone.

“Calaita display passion and Flamenco spirit, energy and spontaneity”

About the debut album, released by World Music Network / Riverboat Records:
The whole album was recorded in 3 days at Wavelength Studios in the UK. The album was then produced and mixed by Glenn Sharp and mastered at POB Audio. The album includes all the very best from ‘Calaita Flamenco Son’ with traditional flamenco palos such as ‘alegrias’, ‘bulerias’ and ‘seguiriyas’, and the more popular sounds of flamenco rumba, including the amazing song ‘un mensajito’ by Chico Pere, always a popular encore at their live shows. The album has a little something for everyone. The aim of this album was to capture the energy and spontaneity of their live shows and this is achieved perfectly.

Dying For Bad Music
Toby Hay is a guitarist and composer from near Rhayader in Mid Wales. He makes instrumental music inspired by the landscape, people and history of the area. Following in the footsteps of the American Primitive guitarists like John Fahey and Robbie Basho, and the British Folk revivalists like John Renbourne and Bert Jansch, he composes music for the 6 and 12 string guitar.

His music has been supported by radio stations across the UK, Amercia and Australia, and he has performed across Britain, playing Swn Festival, Machynlenth Comedy Festival and Greenman Festival, as well as supporting artists like Ryley Walker, Songhoy Blues and Marika Hackman.
Influenced by Indian Ragas, African Kora music and ancient Welsh harp music from the Robert ap Huw manuscript he makes music to capture the atmosphere of the special and under represented part of Wales where he lives, adding to the long tradition of Welsh string music.

Sunday 20th

 December, 2015

With work finished for Christmas, what better way to set us all up for the festive season than a concert from DANNY & THE CHAMPIONS OF THE WORLD.  Fronted by Danny George Wilson they are the UK's top band playing the Americana rock circuit.  With Paul Lush on guitar, Henry Senior Jnr on pedal steel, 'Free Jazz' Geoff Widdowson on keyboards and saxophone, Chris Clarke in bass and Steve Brooks on drums they will have us dancing in the aisles.
The band's rich mix of Americana and soul is intoxicating.  Danny's voice oozes character and the Champs are all top musicians.
Their 2103 album 'Stay True' was one of the year's best albums.  In 2014 they followed it up with a double live album 'Live Champs' recorded at The Jazz Café in London.  Early this year they brought out 'What Kind of Love'  which got 5 star reviews across the music press.
Live they are simply flawless and take the music to another level, they are like Springsteen filtered through a stack of Stax 45's.
Support will come from the charismatic Clubhouse Records artist from Rutland, Paul McClure.  The passing world is the subject of Paul's songs, in particular the loves and losses that come his way.  He is the perfect opening act for the Champs

Advance tickets are priced at £12.50.  Tickets can be obtained from the One Stop store in the town, from Brian on 01652 649230 or from www.wegottickets.com
They will be £14.50 on the door

and so on to 2016 ... we

have some fantastic acts

lined up for the new year.

  First up is:

ROD PICOTT

on Saturday 6th February

Rod Picott is the son of a welder from Berwick Maine, who now lives in East Nashville.  Rod started out as a sheet rock hanger and his songs bear the real life scars of blue collared America, they are inhabited by manual workers, circus hands, boxers and working girls.
Rod has toured the UK every year since 2001 and has built up a substantial following over that time.  Live he is extremely entertaining.  Whilst his songs make the listener think, his between song banter make audience members laugh and smile.  He is the complete entertainer.
Support will come from the hugely popular Hull trio Farewell Fairground who, over the last 3 years have built up a large following on the north bank of the Humber and beyond.
Advance Tickets for this concert will be £11.00, and can be obtained from the usual outlets.
Other acts booked in 2016 include Eric Brace and Peter Cooper, Callaghan, The Mighty Doonans, The Shook Twins, Hannah Aldridge, Lynne Hanson and the Good Intentions, 10 string Symphony and Gilmore & Roberts, with more to be announced.
