The opening concert of the new season at the Club features the classic front line of saxophone and trumpet, with two of the finest jazz musicians on the scene. Dave also wrote and produced the last Matt Bianco album “Gravity”.  Martin Shaw is widely regarded as one of the leading jazz trumpeters in Europe, with his powerful yet wonderfully melodic fluent playing.  As well as playing in many of the top jazz outfits, both in the UK and abroad, he has toured and featured in the bands of Sting, Jamiroquai and Natalie Cole. Martin is currently Professor of Jazz Trumpet at the Royal College of Music, London.

Dave O’Higgins and Martin Shaw have a long musical association, dating back to the 1990’s and the quintet will be playing a selection of great jazz tunes and standards, old and new, backed by a superb rhythm section.

“O’Higgins plays with quite exceptional fluency and his fund of ideas never runs out.”
