The team at Lincoln Drill Hall are absolutely thrilled to be hosting one of the UK’s most exciting bands, for what promises to be a wonderful gig. Their powerful music is inspired by Britain’s diverse cultural heritage and the ten members of the Imagined Village including Eliza Carthy, Martin Carthy, Jackie Oates and Barney Morse Brown are all giants in their fields, playing in other such as Chase & Status, Afro Celts Sound System, Cornershop, Transglobal Underground, The Bays, Dhol Foundation and Red Snapper… Some of the star Villagers will support themselves in duos and as soloists before the main event.

JTQ make a triumphant return to Lincoln following their previous sell-out gigs at the Drill Hall. The bands Hammond organ driven blend of jazz, funk, R&B and swinging beats make them one of the most distinctive and important crossover acts in British live musical history. From their fired-up signature tune ‘The Theme from Starsky and Hutch’  through their many covers of 60s film themes such as ‘Alfie’, ‘Mrs. Robinson’, ‘Blow Up’, and ‘Goldfinger’  to scoring the theme tune to ‘Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery’,  they constantly produce swinging, high energy live shows that are not to be missed.

It’s 50 years since the Beatles recorded their first hit record ‘Love Me Do’ in 1962. By early 1964 they had become international stars, leading the British invasion in the USA and forever changing the face of twentieth century contemporary music. On Tuesday Night, hosted by the Coffee Bar Cowboys, local musicians pay their own tribute to the ‘Fab Four’ as they play their own versions of Beatles classics that still inspire musicians and fans alike.

Justin Currie's music is dominated by strong imagery and storytelling, powerful yet understated vocals and a sound that, whilst firmly rooted in nineties pop-rock, translates beautifully into modern, urban ballads. With influences from Nick Cave, Crowded House and Mark Lanegan, his music is hauntingly dark, yet refreshingly uplifting.

Generally acknowledged as the most exciting, entertaining and talented trombonist in Britain today, Dennis honed his skills with the National Youth Jazz Orchestras before joining Courtney Pine’s pioneering ‘Jazz Warriors’. Last seen on the Drill Hall stage in February when he supported Fairport Convention, Kieran Goss has long been hailed as one of Ireland's leading songwriters and performers. Live on stage is where Kieran Goss really shines. “The sense of fun is tremendous, the playing first rate and the songs are sheer quality. Show of Hands inspired frontman Steve Knightley, hailed as one of England's finest songwriters, sets out on a UK tour in February, hot on the heels of his debut live solo album release 'Live In Somerset’ Playing at Lincoln Drill Hall on Wednesday 29 February supported by Phillip Henry & Hannah Martin.

Steve Knightley is the songwriting force behind the phenomenally successful acoustic roots duo Show of Hands as well as a fine singer and musician. From a rock background, Knightley is known for his strong narrative songs (many inspired by people and places in his native West Country) and cogent, inventive lyrics. His rock style rant Country Life and anthemic rally call Roots were both nominated for Best Original Song in the BBC Radio2 Folk Awards, whilst Show of Hands have won the categories Best Live Act and Best Duo. At the 2010 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards Steve won the coveted Best Original Song category with his topical and widely acclaimed song aimed at bankers and MPs – Arrogance Ignorance and Greed. Steve will be supported by Phillip Henry & Hannah Martin. Phillip plays slide guitar, dobro, harmonica, beatbox harmonica & chatturangui. He has studied the Delta blues bottleneck for many years and has developed a touch reminiscent of Ry Cooder. Also, Phillip's astounding harmonica technique is inspired by Sonny Terry.
