Welcome to C-FaB, Cabourne Folk & Blues Festival, 2013. The festival is situated on a beautiful wooded farm located in the Lincolnshire Wolds, not far from Caistor, Market Rasen, and the East Coast. It's a weekend full of activity with music on two stages, along with workshops and other scheduled activities designed for fun and to entertain. The event has a friendly, community environment where you can relax around a log- burning stove while listening to mellow music from some of the best folk and blues artists, dance 'til you drop to some awesome bands, take some time to learn new musical skills or just relax and find your own space.

This year we are also running Cabourne's first Folk-off Competition. Open to all for aspiring Folk and Blues artists and with a cash prize, the winners will also have the opportunity to appear live on stage at ‘Funny As Folk’ 2013.

Red Nose Day @ Lincoln Drill Hall

Just like millions of other people on Friday the 15th March the crew down at Lincoln Drill Hall will be celebrating Red Nose Day and trying to raise a few bob for Comic Relief.

Between 10.30 and 11.30 am The Drill Hall Red Nose Skiffle Band will be strumming and strutting their collective stuff on the High Bridge in Lincoln High Street playing a selection of skiffle, folk, country and fifties favourites.

 Then at twelve midday the action moves indoors to the Drill Hall Cafe Bar for two hours of music, poetry and prose with contributions from Roger and Keith of the Coffee Bar Cowboys, Guitarist Pete Wray, Poetry and Prose from Jenny Clarkson and Maureen Sutton, Singer Song writer Jonny Gillard all topped by a performance by Students of Lincoln College and their Musical Director Dave Mallet.

The 7-piece Gabby Young and Other Animals was formed in 2008 and the band’s sound & look is as original as it is amazing. Young’s style combines Balkan brass, jazz and swing in a sound that has been affectionately dubbed Circus Swing. As famous for her extravagant costumes as for her soulful voice, her flamboyant show has been likened to Florence + the Machine and Paloma Faith, while her classically trained voice has been likened to that of Kate Bush, Tori Amos and Imogen Heap. This tour is to promote her second album, which is filled with often unexpectedly thoughtful, sophisticated songs that continually switch direction, from cool guitar, accordion or piano-backed balladry to furious trumpet and trombone-backed workouts.

Sat 2nd	Ty Garner and the Blue Notes (Blues/Experimental/Jazz) Manfield’s Ty Garner will be appearing with his band, The Blue Notes.  They play the blues right from their hearts, but with a jazz mentality. The result; a contemporary interpretation of blues classics, combined with Ty’s originals.  Influenced by artists such as T-Bone Walker, Elmore James, Muddy Waters, 'Big' Mama Thornton, John Lee Hooker, Howlin' Wolf, Chuck Berry, Ray Charles, Freddie King, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, John Mayall, Eric Clapton, Roy Buchanan, and many more, too many to mention.  9pm start
Fri 8th	Acoustic Night.  Our monthly session (second Friday of each month) featuring The Chain Gang (Blues/Pop Classics) a female/male duo, featuring Lynne on vocals, percussion and harmonica and Mick on resonator slide and acoustic guitars. Mick also uses a stomp box to lend a basic beat to their sound. They perform a wide range of songs, including blues and rock/pop classics from the 60's to the present day, starting at 10pm.  We would also like to invite those who like to have a play and join in or, if they wish, play a few songs solo before our featured guest starts (please bring your own instruments). The idea is to enjoy a nice sedate evening soaking up the easy listening music that acoustic instruments offer.  (No Electric). 8pm start
Sat 9th	Jester (Classic Rock/Classic Metal) Old Nicks welcome back these Nottingham guys who are now a 4 piece playing a wide range of songs from the 70s to date.  Influences include Iron Maiden, Rainbow, Metallica, Motorhead, Black Sabbath and many more.  9pm start

Sat 23rd	The Detuners (Punk Rock Classics) This 4 piece Lincolnshire band play an authentic selection of punk rock classics covering such bands as The Damned, The Jam, The Stooges, The Clash, Sex Pistols, 999, The Stranglers, Ramones, UK Subs, SLF, Dead Kennedys and many more.  Well worth coming down for as they always give a brilliant performance.  9pm start
Sat 30th	The Mick Rutherford Band (Blues/Progressive/Classic Rock) We are honoured to have Mick play this weekend at Old Nicks whilst celebrating 50 years in music, as always this experienced and accomplished band is welcomed back to Old Nicks who play, as described, heavy blues/rock and in live performances take no prisoners. They are proud to be the first of the Blues Matters family to have a top twenty hit (number 4) in the USA I-Tunes Blues Singles download chart. Not to be missed!!  9pm start
Sun 31st 4pm start	MATINEE PERFORMANCE for ALL Ages celebrating Easter Sunday with The Almaboobies (Rock/Rock/Rock) Old Nick’s welcomes back this very tight trio who give a great performance, engaging the audience during every song. Playing a mix of originals and covers from artists such as System of the Down, Black Sabbath, Blondie, Green Day and many more. Live music aimed at ALL ages. Friday 1 March 8pm Spring Ceilidh with The Liam Robinson Dance Band

Come along and enjoy some fun traditional dancing that everyone can take part in. No previous experience necessary and suitable for all ages and abilities. Musician and dance caller Liam Robinson has performed across Europe and North America at events from small house dances to large festivals. His band, featuring Tim Walker on percussion and brass and Nina Zagorski on piano, bring you some of the best traditional dance music around including many tunes local to the area. She has almost everything one could ask for in a singer of classic American songs: a gorgeous sound, a solid understanding of words and story and a sure and steady feel for rhythm. In her early career she worked as a backing singer for Frank Sinatra, Perry Como, and Tony Bennett, emerging as a leading solo performer in the 1970s, playing Carnegie Hall to rave reviews.

Friday 22 March 8pm Whole Lotta Led

After 12 years with the same line up (and having just beaten the length of time Led Zeppelin were together), Whole Lotta Led have undergone a change in line-up. Joining the band on drums is Charlie Hart, a gifted musician who has long admired John Bonham's drum style and new vocalist, Lee Pryor, who effortlessly reproduces Robert Plants amazing vocals & David Wykeham-George who, as well as playing keyboards, will also be contributing guitar and backing vocals. Don't worry though, founder members Nick Ferris (guitar) and Geoff Hunt (bass) are still there, continuing the legacy and ensuring the standard of performance is as high as it can be. If you haven't seen the band before you'll be well impressed and if you have seen the old band, come and witness the amazing changes.
