TOWN HALL LIVE FRIDAY 10th MAY DANNY SCHMIDT  support from Gregory S Davies and The Southern Light  Danny Schmidt is incomparable and a 'can't miss performer. Named in the Chicago Tribune's list of '50 Most Significant Songwriters of the last 50 years. Performing solo armed with just his voice, his acoustic guitar and acute commentary, Danny is the authentic troubadour, one man sharing the truth in the form of songs, unadorned and intimate.  The understated effect is powerful. In March this year he released his ninth studio album 'Standard Deviation'.  It is articulate, thoughtful, intelligent and melodic, a quiet masterpiece. All of Danny's songs carry the power of fine poetry.  They are filled with nimble wordplay and convey weight, depth and substance. Danny Schmidt is incomparable and a can't miss performer.  His guitar playing is exceptional, where every melody can be appreciated even if there are no words. Her story is well known.  In 2010, whilst living in London she sent a demo tape to Shawn Mullins.  He was impressed and invited Callaghan over to Atlanta and offered to produce her debut album 'Life in Full Colour'.  It was a classic case of taking a risk and throwing your life into upheaval to chase your dreams.  She stayed in Atlanta for three years before moving to Nashville and then LA and has played all across America. She has recorded three more albums 'A History of Now', 'Acoustic Coffee House' and 'Callaghan' and is in the process of recording 'Acoustic Coffee House 2' Callaghan is blessed with a beautiful sweet and soothing voice, a strong knack for pretty and harmonic melodies .  She has a warmth and purity of spirit that shines through in her performances. Carrie Elkin from Austin, Texas is a born performer, possessing an infectious energy and having the most powerful voice which is revelatory and riveting.
Very few people in this world can captivate an audience live music, with just a voice and guitar the way Carrie can. Her songs are, at once, intimate yet universal, naked but richly adorned. When she was younger Carrie was a national champion gymnast, who then went on to study physiology at Ohio University to become an organic chemist.
Music, however, was in her blood and the attention she was gaining from her song writing gave rise to a career change as she began to record and tour across America. In 2011 she released her debut CD for Red House Records ‘Call It My Garden’ and the CD immediately topped the folk and Americana Radio Charts in the states.
In May this year she released a duo album ‘For Keeps’ with her partner, and soon to be husband, Danny Schmidt. It sees the two performers passing guitar back and forth and sharing songs, with each joining the other in harmony.
For the concert she will be joined by accomplished musicians Anthony Da Costa on guitar/vocals and Lindsey Verill on bass/cello/vocals.
Support will come from Manchester singer/songwriter Little Rach, who herself released her debut album ‘If You Go’ earlier in the year.
