Hear Alan Ritson Talking To Chris Cleverly on Tuesday 11 May in Lincoln City Radio

Tune in to Fine Folk on Lincoln City Radio 103.6FM (http://lincolncityradio.com) on Tuesday 11th May at 7pm to listen to an interview with Alan Ritson speaking to Chris Cleverley.

Chris was born under a solstice moon. Since the hazy twilight of that urban, honeysuckle June, a trail of mysticism has followed in his wake.
From the fairy-light intimacy of concert venues, to the stages of world-renowned festivals, Chris has built a sturdy following in his 7 years touring the new British Folk Scene. Outstanding musicianship and warm delivery combine to underpin the infectious draw of his unique songwriting prowess.
Chris’s visceral lyrical style pays homage to the American greats, Elliott Smith, Paul Simon & Sufjan Stevens. His songs reveal the presence of an enduring human spirit within the cosmic loneliness of the 21st Century emotional landscape.

A Message from the Joe Strummer Foundation re JSF Runners - No Input No Output

Were you aware that Joe took part in three marathons himself, London twice, and Paris?

This prompted us to set up JSF Runners.

An inclusive running community to chat about health, encouragement, fitness, wellbeing, nutrition, Joe, and of course, music.

We are aware that running is not for everybody and we want to make sure we only email you about the things you care about.

So unless you sign up via the JSF Runners - Are You In? blog post on our website, this will be the last email we'll send to you about it.

We respect your time and value your support.

From all of us,
The Joe Strummer Foundation

Willow Smith Returns With Rock Single Featuring Travis Barker

Willow Smith has embarked on a new era with her new rock single, 'Transparent Soul’, featuring Travis Barker.

The 20-year-old singer-and-actress - whose parents are Hollywood power couple Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith - has unleashed her brand new single with the Blink-182 drummer.

Alongside a visual for the track, Willow - who has ditched her famous surname for her music - teased on Instagram: “I am so GRATEFUL and EXCITED to start this new journey ! Let the vibes commence. (sic)"

Willow's new single is her first new material since her 2020 joint album ‘The Anxiety’ with Tyler Cole.

To coincide with the record, the pair were locked in a box for 24 hours as part of an art installation at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) in Los Angeles, which focused on anxiety.

Willow explained at the time: "We were like, 'Wouldn't it be so interesting if we could personify this experience? Starting from being scared and feeling alone and moving to a place of acceptance and joy? We understand this is a very sensitive subject. And, we don't want to be like, 'Our experience is the experience.' This is just us expressing our personal experience with this. "This is not so that people are like, 'Oooh!' This is for awareness. The first thing we're going to be writing on our title wall is something along the lines of: 'The acceptance of one's fears is the first step toward understanding.' So, then you know this is on something real. This is for a real cause."

The collaborators spent three-hour blocks exploring different anxiety-related emotions, including sadness, paranoia, and compassion and were muted during the performance.

The 'Whip My Hair' hitmaker said ahead of the event: "We might grunt or scream - it's going to be very primal."

Whitby Folk Week 2021: Important Update From The Directors

Whitby Folk Week 2021: Important Update From The Directors

In the light of the continuing pandemic and the uncertainty of restrictions such as social distancing and face coverings being fully relaxed by August, the Whitby Folk Week directors have taken the extremely difficult decision to postpone the 2021 festival until the 20th-26th August 2022.

The very essence of Whitby Folk Week is our community; being together to dance, sing, play music and be with friends and family. Ceilidhs, morris dancing, sessions, workshops, sing-arounds and bustling venues are at the heart of this, and they are simply not possible with any level of social distancing in place. Whitby Folk Week without these things would not be the Whitby Folk Week we know and love.

There are also more practical considerations such as the availability of the Spa, ever changing restrictions and the fact that any financial risk in this already unpredictable year may well jeopardise future festivals. To ensure a positive future for the festival, we must be mindful of the ongoing need to protect each other, as well as the town of Whitby, and our festival and its reputation.

For this year, we will contact ticket holders over the next few days and, as last year, we will host a Whitby@Home which we hope you will support to keep us all going until we can have the festival back to its old self.

Hopefully, in 2022, we will collect our heather in person, hug our friends, dance, sing and play to our hearts' content. In the meantime, we send our very best wishes for continued health and happiness to our supporters and their loved ones.

Whitby Folk Week is a long-standing celebration of the traditional music, dance and song of the British Isles has taken on the trappings of a tradition in its own right. As always there will be over 100 fantastic concerts ready to entertain you across the town in numerous venues.
