Sat 12th	Exhibit A (Classic Rock/Classic Metal) A Nottingham based 4 piece Rock Covers Band.  With an infectious party atmosphere, enthusiasm, energetic front man, pounding drums, solid bass and kick ass guitars. They have developed a reputation for storming pubs, clubs & rallies with a highly charged blend of rock through the ages, from the classics to the present day. 9pm start.
Sat 19th	The Lizards (Classic Heavy Rock) Formerly known to Old Nicks as Exit Wound, this outstanding 4 piece Newark/Notts based band play covers from AC/DC, AA Top, Velvet Revolver, Aerosmith, Led Zep, Deep Purple and many more. 9pm start.
Sat 26th	Skeleton Crew (Classic Rock/Rock) A hard rock quintet from Nottingham who effortlessly fuse hard-hitting riffs with memorable melodies and rich harmonies, and deliver it all with a complete absence of grace and decorum. If you like your rock music to pirouette down a catwalk wearing lycra and eyeliner then Skeleton Crew UK may not be for you. If, on the other hand, you refer your rock music to make you feel like you’ve just been run over by a rather happy truck or some sort of tractor, then you could be in the right place. Its just good, honest, heavy rock and good honest loud people seem to really like it.  9pm start

Mumford & Sons to perform with Bob Dylan at this year's Grammy Awards.

Mumford & Sons will perform with Bob Dylan at this year's Grammy Awards ceremony.

The band had previously performed with The Kinks' Ray Davies (watch video below), and are now set to hook up with the folk legend at Sunday's (February 13) ceremony at the Los Angeles Staples Center.

They will perform with him as well as North Carolina band The Avett Brothers for an as-yet unannounced number, and will also play their song 'The Cave'.

The band are nominated in the Best Rock Song category for their debut single 'Little Lion Man' and in the Best New Artist category.

Happy Birthday Bob Marley - Now For The Movie!

Bob Marley would have been celebrating his 66th birthday today had he not succumbed to cancer in 1981 at the tragically early age of 36 - and, notably, at the peak of his musicianship.
The man compressed into his short life what millions of other mortals could not achieve in a hundred years.

It is therefore fitting that, 30 years after his death, The Prophet is being commemorated in a movie by Kevin Macdonald, the British director who gave us The Last King of Scotland.
It has been a long, arduous struggle to capture the life and times of Robert Nesta Marley on celluloid - even the likes of Martin Scorsese found the challenge too daunting. Jonathan Demme also pulled out of the project after producer Steve Bing was said to have been less than impressed by Demme's work.
A report in the Los Angeles Times confirmed this week that it was now all systems go for the comprehensive documentary.
"Titled Marley and set for a release this summer, the movie will examine the brief, creative life of the reggae pioneer ... by interviewing many of the figures in and around him, as well as using archival material. The film will examine 'the life, legacy and global impact of a true legend', said a statement from the producers, Tuff Gong Pictures, Shangri-La Entertainment and Cowboy Films," the newspaper reported.
The movie is due for release later this year to coincide with a series of concerts and re-releases of his music to mark the 30th anniversary of his death.

RIP Charlie Louvin; Unsung Hero of Country Music

Sad news for fans of the Louvin Brothers. The Boston Globe reports that Charlie Louvin, the last surviving brother, died Wednesday at 83 from complications of pancreatic cancer.

If the name doesn’t ring a bell, you’ve no doubt heard the influence of the Louvins, who inspired generations of singers, from Emmylou Harris to Elvis Costello to Jeff Tweedy.
