Strummerville Calling September 2011
Hey folks,
A little update from Strummerville HQ...
Was great to see so many people at our campfires at Glastonbury and Endorse It In Dorset over the summer and thanks to all the great bands and artists who came to play for us. It's been amazing! - click here for photos
Was a great honour to have so many established acts perform on our tiny stage... my own personal highlight can be seen at this link... http://youtu.be/WlcMT0S9Yfc
Also thanks to everyone who supported us by buying merch out in the fields.
Our music room is almost finished at Tilinanu orphanage in Milawi and this will open next month. We will be doing an appeal for any old childrens instruments so we can send out for the space. Also the lovely people at Lake Of Stars festival have welcomed the choir from the orphanage to come and perform at the festival in October which is a great opportunity for them.
We are currently working on plans for a Strummerville space in Detroit so watch this space for news of that...
Thanks to the great team over at Brothers Cider for their kind support over the summer and to everyone who organised benefits for us – we really appreciate your support.
If you are ‘down under’ then there's two very special benefits coming your way in Sydney and Melbourne:
We recently announced a call to action to support the work we do here, all donations are greatly received and really help us to continue our work.
In other news we have been supporting a lot of new bands with recording and releasing records and are delighted to congratulate Bastille and The Joker & the Thief on their recent releases.
And onwards we go with our work here at Strummerville HQ...
Love,
Trish x

Hut People at the Dog and Bone Lincoln
Champions of the standing ovation, The Hut People, will be playing at the Dog and Bone, 10 St John St, Lincoln, LN2 5BH on the 10th September. They are rapidly gaining more and more of reputation as one of the hottest & most entertaining world/folk acts touring today.
Taking the audience on a voyage across the globe with their material, they perform a high-octane unique blend of home-grown tunes mixed with British, Nordic and European folk music, perfectly formed & embellished with the driving accordion and a mind-boggling array of exotic percussion.
Accordionist Sam Pirt also performs with 422 (previous Radio 2 Folk awards winners) and is a very experienced musician who is well established within the folk circuit. Sam has in the past performed alongside Kathryn Tickell, The Dubliners, Sharon Shannon, Jez Lowe, Brian Finnegan, Brian McNeill and many others. He is also the founder of Ethno England.

Great music aside, a show from The Hut People is filled to the brim with spontaneity, often hilarious patter and a 110% commitment to their getting-the-crowd-involved ethos. Don’t miss them.

King King to support Steve Cropper and The Animals at Drill Hall Gig!
The Lincoln Drill Hall Team are now able to confirm that King King will be supporting Steve Cropper and the Animals at Lincoln Drill Hall on September 8th doors 7.00 pm.
This is great news as “Softly softly” is not a maxim that King King are familiar with. Since surging into life two years ago they have barely stopped for breath, and their electrifying sound and scorching live shows have generated more of a thunderous roar than a buzz. To see why just heck out these links... http://www.kingkingblues.com http://youtu.be/-Y8MaW31g4g
Advance tickets £20.00 (£22.00) on the day.
