The Story Song Scientists - Megan Henwood & Findlay Napier - March dates 2019

We have a few dates left to fill between 3 - 30 March 2019

Snape Maltings, Aldeburgh 2016 and Megan Henwood and Findlay Napier are a few hours into an EFDSS (English Folk Dance Song Society) run songwriting retreat. They are outside drinking their 7th coffee of the morning. Napier's driven nine hours from Glasgow and is a bit wobbly. Henwood's back from a month long writing trip to Nashville and she is jet lagged and delusional. "Fancy writing a song about maths?" Napier enquires. And so the seed for this songwriting partnership was sewn.

Their collaboration has led to the creation of songs about a hermit known as The North Pond Phantom, WBAI host Bob Fass' lifesaving broadcast on 6th Nov 1971, Georg Cantor's struggle with infinity, maths and God and something about Shepherds and leaders. They are yet to write a song about pickup trucks... or beer.

If ever an artist called on the elements in her songwriting, it's Megan Henwood. The distinguished English singer-songwriter is far too self-deprecating to describe herself as a force of nature, but her third album 'River' reaffirms her unique ability to create roots music of beguiling purity from what's around her.

Sat 1^st	The Steve Fulsham Band (Guitar Driven Light Rock) The Steve Fulsham Band are a slick, high energy Light Rock Band based in Hull. Performing from Influences such as Led Zeppelin, Free, Bad Company, The Rolling Stones, Peter Green, Rory Gallagher, Ten Years After, Buddy Guy, Gary Moore, Robin Trower, Jimi Hendrix, ZZ Top, The Derek Trucks Band, The Allman Brothers, Stevie Ray Vaughan and many more. Steve is considered to be one of the finest guitarists on the circuit. 9pm start
Sat 8^th	Alice In Thunderland (Good Solid Rock!) A four piece rock band from the Bridlington area who have recorded six CDs of original songs. They have played many gigs performing their own material plus covering songs by many favourite artists such as Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Black Label Society, Ozzy, Pantera, Judas Priest, Whitesnake and many more. 9.00pm Start.
Sun 9^th	Horncastle Winter Market. To celebrate this afternoon Old Nicks is having an Open Mic Afternoon, we invite all our regulars from our Wednesday session and any other musician that would like to join in. Back line will be provided (1 x bass amp, 1 x guitar amp plus drum kit). All other instruments to be provided by musician. Guitarists are welcome to bring their amp so long as it is not massive!! 12pm Noon start.
Sat 15^th	Point Blank (Pop/Rock) A 5 piece from Scunthorpe who have built up a solid reputation in their local area and play a wide range of styles including songs from the Who, Beatles and The Faces through to Stereophonics, Kings of Leon, U2 and many more. With the addition of a keyboard to their band, there is a fuller and rounded sound. 9pm start
Sat 22^nd	Red Boot (Rockabilly / Rock’n’Roll / Blues) Playing songs from The Stray Cats to Ray Charles to Junior Wells plus many more………….DOUBLE BASS & ALL!! A really rockin’ evening, we defy you to keep still whilst they are playing. Not to be missed. 9pm start
Sat 29^th	Cuttin’ Loose (Rock & Pop) All your favourite hits from the 60s to the present day. 9pm start.
New Year’s Eve	De Ja Vu Roadshow will entertain your every musical desire to help celebrate seeing the New Year in. 8.30pm start til late.

Lynne Hanson started playing guitar as a teenager, eventually working her way to an award winning debut album in 2006. Tow more albums quickly followed and each garnered critical approval. Lynne then took time out, before returning in 2014 with the excellent 'River of Sand', which saw her writing mature into a more intuitive and visceral style. 'Uneven Ground' followed in 2017 and explores giving sound advice through song writing and fighting back against the devil within us.

At first listen, Lynne Hanson's warm, but gritty music leads you to think of America's South, but Lynne is in fact from Ottawa, Canada.
Her sound is born honestly, through a lifetime of experiences and influences expressed through rock, blues and roots music that bleeds from her very being. Her songs are familiar and comfortable, fearless and strong. Her bluesy croon is pure and full of passion.
At the start of 2018, Lynne teamed up with Lynn Miles to release an album and tour under the name of The LyNNeS. Both were a great success.
Now she is back with her band, The Good Intentions which again features MJ Dandneau on bass, plus new members Kevin Corbett on lead guitar and Cody Iwasiuk on drums.
Lynne's previous performances at Town Hall Live have been a joy and we are sure that this concert will be no different.
Supporting, as a special guest will be AMY ANDREWS from Atlanta, Georgia. Amy has a powerful voice that can change from soaring to reserved and is reminiscent of Eva Cassidy. There is an intimacy in Amy's live performances that make the listener feel she is singing to them personally. Her voice is strong, seductively smooth and full of emotion. Earlier this year she released her debut album 'The Best'

DANNI NICHOLLS to TOWN HALL LIVE.

She will be accompanied by Tom Dibb and Mark Lewis with support from ROBBIE CAVANAGH.
This concert is on Friday 7th December
Danni Nicholls effortlessly slips from smoky soul, folk-pop and heart wrenching alternative country, all in her trademark rich, velvety voice.
Danni's start continues to rise, with two consecutive Americana Music Association Award nominations for Album of The Year in 2017 and Artist of the Year in 2018. She also performed at this year's Folk Alliance International in Kansas. In May this year she embarked on her next musical journey, making a new studio in Nashville with renowned producer Jordan Brooke Hamlin. It will be released in early 2019.
Danni will be accompanied by two members of the Lauren Housley Band, Tom Dibb on lead guitar and Mark Lewis on bass.
Support will come from Liverpool artist ROBBIE CAVANAGH. Robbie's beautiful lyrics and flawless soulful vocals, along with his incredible live performances never fail to turn heads.
Back to Danni Nicholls, the word that reoccurs in any review for her is elegance. Bob Harris of Radio 2 hails her and says 'I absolutely love the beauty and elegance of her music and voice'

The year starts with a bang. First up on Saturday 19th January is an evening with Damian Wilson and Adam Wakeman - last year's concert was a sell out and there are just a handful of tickets left for this year's concert - don't miss out RESERVE YOURS NOW!!

And then on Friday 1st February we welcome back Canadian band THE ONCE and five year absence. They are brilliant. Don't miss them.
