Join Sophie Janna of Netherlands-based folk
duo The Lasses, as she plays a set of folk classics and original songs with
bouzouki player Kaspar Laval (who you might know from his work with Flemish
balfolk group Hot Griselda). Sophie just released a new single called Wide
World, which they’ll be performing a brand-new version of.
Hawkwind formed in 1969 by Dave Brock who still remains at the helm today. In 1970 the band played at the first ever Glastonbury Festivals, released their eponymously titled debut album and created their own new music genre called “Space Rock”.
The 1972 'Space Ritual' Tour featured contributions from sci-fi author Michael Moorcock, poet Bob Calvert, designer Barney Bubbles and lighting engineer Liquid Len creating a truly multimedia experience. This has set the bar for every Hawkwind show since.
Original member Lemmy left to form Official Motörhead in 1975, and Hawkwind have since gone on to become a massively influential group and have released more than 50 albums.
Julie Mclelland and BFCH are an
original Celtic folk band with 7 critically acclaimed albums, published works
with Cherry Red Records and over 2000 live performances as part of their
history. Live gigs have seen them play from the smallest of venues to outside
arenas and most notably their own show at The London Palladium. They have
appeared with bands such as The Levellers, The Stranglers, UB40 and have
supported Stiff Little Fingers, Hayseed Dixie, The Beat and most recently, New
Model Army on national tour dates. Major festivals appearances include Wychwood
Festival, Rhythm Festival, Weyfest, The Bearded Theory Festival, Galtres, The
Acoustic Festival of Great Britain and The Great British Folk Festival, amongst
many others.
In 2017 BFCH won the public vote at
The Great British Folk Festival for the best ‘new act’ which saw them play on
the main stage to a capacity crowd.
In 2019 BFCH are invited to headline
Stramash as part of The Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Crowded
House are back with new single "Playing With Fire",
which is the third track to be lifted from their first album in 11 years Dreamers
Are Waiting.
"Playing With Fire" follows
previous releases "To The Island" and "Whatever You Want",
and is teamed with a Simon Mark Brown-directed video.
Neil Finn says of the track, "This song
was formed out of a Crowded House jam, live in the studio
but then evolved its character through many twists and turns during quarantine
in 2020. "Playing With Fire" carries within it the contradiction I
often feel on joyous occasions, the presence of hope together with an impending
sense of doom."

Tune in to Fine Folk on Lincoln City Radio 103.6FM (http://lincolncityradio.com) on Tuesday 11th May at 7pm to listen to an interview with Alan Ritson speaking to Chris Cleverley. Chris was born under a solstice moon. Since the hazy twilight of that urban, honeysuckle June, a trail of mysticism has followed in his wake. From the fairy-light intimacy of concert venues, to the stages of world-renowned festivals, Chris has built a sturdy following in his 7 years touring the new British Folk Scene. Outstanding musicianship and warm delivery combine to underpin the infectious draw of his unique songwriting prowess. Chris’s visceral lyrical style pays homage to the American greats, Elliott Smith, Paul Simon & Sufjan Stevens. His songs reveal the presence of an enduring human spirit within the cosmic loneliness of the 21st Century emotional landscape.
