News From Town Hall Live - Kirton In Lindsey

TWO CONCERTS FOR AUGUST

FRIDAY 9TH - RILEY CATHERALL & EMILY LAWLER

For our first concert we welcome Riley Catherall and Emily Lawler.

Riley is a singer songwriter based in Melbourne, whose graceful trajectory into the Australian alt-country world has not gone un-noticed.  He has built a credible status as one of Australia's most promising songwriters through his poetic sincerity and alluring live shows.  He released his debut album 'When I Go' in 2022.  He released his second album 'The Light, The Beautiful Liar this month.  Both contain songs that are beautifully constructed and immaculately delivered.

Riley is probably best known as the lead guitarist and The Wildes.  He is in the UK for two months touring with the band followed by a country wide solo tour.

Sharing the bill with Riley will be Emily Lawler.  Emily is well known to THL audiences, having played two support lots over the years and more recently with Lachlan Bryan in July.  At the latter concert she stunned the audience with her pure, dynamic voice.   As well as her own solo slot playing guitar she will also accompany Riley on violin, singing duets and backing vocals.

It will be a lovely evening and one not to be missed,

Tickets for this concert are priced at £14.  Get yours by emailing Brian at brianchudley@btinternet.com or by ringing him on 01652 649230.  You can also pop in Morrisons Daily (Kirton) or buy them on line at from www.wegottickets.com

The second concert is on SATURDAY 31ST when JULIAN TAYLOR headlines

In August 2023 Julian Taylor from Toronto and his all-girl UK band played THL's concert of the year.  Julian's has been part of the musical fabric and landscape of Canada for over two decades.  It is rare in this era to see an artist build slowly and reach a new level of widespread acclaim both is his home country, the UK and Europe.

Over the year's he has released twelve studio albums, but it was not until 2020 that he enjoyed a breakthrough with the release of 'The Ridge'.  With that album Julian found a whole new audience and worldwide acclaim.  In 2022 he released 'Beyond The Reservoir' and in 2023 his profile in the UK skyrocketed after his appearance in front of thousands at The Cambridge Folk Festival/

Julian's  songs are so lyrically and sonically rich.  Live, he takes his audiences on an emotional journey, full of highs and lows.

Now, in 2024 he is back in the UK with the same band to play several prestigious Festivals and selected indoor venues.  This is definitely a concert not to be missed.  It will be special.

Tickets for this concert are priced at £17 and can be obtained from the same outlets, mentioned above.  It should be noted that tickets are selling well for this concert, get yours whilst you can.

HANNAH READ & MICHAEL STARKEY - Live Touring Dates February 2025

Live Touring Dates February 2025 HANNAH READ & MICHAEL STARKEY plus two very special guests CAHALEN MORRISON and VERA VAN HEERINGEN

Over recent years, Hannah Read and Michael Starkey have fast become one of the most sought-after fiddle-banjo duos on the UK acoustic music scene. Their richly dynamic take on Appalachian old time music has seen them enthrall audiences up and down the country, both during their live shows and on their critically-acclaimed debut duo album 'Cross The Rolling Water', released on Hudson Records. They bring a unique depth of expression to traditional music, looking forwards and reaching out whilst still finding an anchor in its timeless language. At the heart of their sound is the complex and driving rhythmic interplay between fiddle and banjo, which draws the listener in “the way lungs draw in air” (Songlines), as they shine a light on “the powerful essence of the music” (RNR Magazine). To complete their sound they bring a range of old, contemporary and original folk songs, sung with charismatic voices that are “destined to be appreciated for a very long time” (Old Time News).

They will be joined by Cahalen Morrison for dates throughout Scotland from 5th - 13th February 2025 and Vera Van Heeringen for dates throughout England & Wales from 14th - 23rd February 2025.
