R.L. Burnside (1926-2005)-See My Jumper Hanging - Check It Out!
R.L. Burnside (1926-2005)-See My Jumper Hanging
R.L. Burnside was born in Harmontown, Mississippi, in
Lafayette County. He spent most of his life in North Mississippi, working as a
sharecropper and a commercial fisherman, as well as playing guitar at weekend
house parties. He was first inspired to pick up the guitar in his early
twenties, after hearing the 1948 John Lee Hooker single, "Boogie
Chillen".
He learned music largely from Mississippi Fred McDowell, who
lived nearby in an adjoining cou received little recognition before the early
1990s. In the latter half of that decade, Burnside recorded and toured
with Jon Spencer, garnering crossover appeal
and introducing his music to a new fan base in the punk and garage rock scenes.. He also cited his cousin-in-law, Muddy
Waters, as an influence.

Blues Masters Elvin Bishop and Charlie Musselwhite Pair Up on New Record
Pacific Sun have reported that Rock & Roll Hall of Fame guitarist Elvin Bishop and Blues Hall of Fame harmonica player Charlie Musselwhite have teamed up and released a new record.
Since crossing paths and becoming friends, Bishop and Musselwhite have become musical compatriots, touring together since the 1980s in addition to touring with their own bands. They have also each continued to create critically acclaimed, award-winning music on vinyl. Though, they’ve never released a record together, until now.
On Friday, Sept. 25, Elvin Bishop and Charlie Musselwhite make their debut as a recorded duo with the release of their first collaborative LP, 100 Years Of Blues.
“This is us sitting down to play the music that we love and resonating together effortlessly because we’re coming from the same place on many levels,” Musselwhite says in a statement. “We see things pretty much the same. Musically it’s like falling off a log. It’s so easy and it just makes sense.”
“100 Years of Blues” is available digitally and on CD on Friday, Sept. 25, via Alligator Records. alligator.com.

R.I.P. Peter Green
Fleetwood Mac co-founder and influential blues rock guitarist Peter Green has died aged 73.
Solicitors acting on behalf of his family said in a statement:
"It is with great sadness that the family of Peter Green announce his death this weekend, peacefully in his sleep."A further statement will be provided in the coming days."
Green, from Bethnal Green in east London, formed Fleetwood Mac with drummer Mick Fleetwood in 1967.
They came together after Green's stint filling in for Eric Clapton in John Mayall's Bluesbreakers. Green and Fleetwood then convinced John McVie to join the band as bass guitarist, in part by naming the band Fleetwood Mac.
He wrote the instantly recognisable instrumental track Albatross, which remains the band's only number one hit, plus two other early hits, Black Magic Woman and Oh Well. And it was under Green's direction that they produced their first three albums.
he band's debut album was released in 1968. Simply called Fleetwood Mac, but also known as Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac, it gained widespread acclaim and reached number four in the charts.
