 LIVE KIRTON

 CALLAGHAN

support: ROBERT

 VINCENT

Friday 17th March,

2017

We are delighted to welcome back Callaghan to Kirton.  Originally from Grantham, Callaghan moved from London to America in the summer of 2010.  She was unknown in the States, but was drawn to Atlanta by one of her biggest influences, Shawn Mullins.  He agreed to produce her first album 'Life in Full Colour'.  It was the classic story of an artist taking risks and throwing their life into upheaval to chase one's dream, and boy how it has paid off..
Callaghan now lives in Nashville.  She is one of those performers whose genuine sweetness is apparent in her voice and it shines through in her writing.  Her music blurs the edges between pop, adult contemporary and Americana.  She is a truly talented performer.  BBC's Bob Harris is a fan and says  'Callaghan is a wonderful artist, beautiful warm and hugely talented.
Callaghan's songs reflect moments and experiences in her own life, as well as stories that people have shared with her.   They are not strictly biographical, but are written in a universal way, which allows her audience to connect the songs to their own lives.
It is exactly 12 months since Callaghan's last appearance at Town Hall Live.  It was a sold out show.  For this concert she will be accompanied by Pete Rinaldi on guitar and Dan Snyder on keyboards.
Since then she has released 'Acoustic Coffee House'  which is a 'live studio' performance of her favourite songs from her two studio albums, plus live favourites.
Supporting Callaghan will be Liverpool singer songwriter Robert Vincent, who last year won the Emerging Artist Award at Americana UK.  His songs are laced with blues and country.  As Bob Harris says 'Robert Vincent is the real deal.
She will be joined on her latest UK tour by Peter on guitar and Dan Snyder on keyboards.
Advance tickets are priced at £12.50.  Tickets are on sale now and can be obtained from the One Stop store in the town, from Brian on 01652 649230 or from www.wegottickets.com
They will be £14.50 on the door

LYNNE HANSON &

 THE GOOD

 INTENTIONS

Lynne Hanson last played Town Hall Live in June 2016.  It is great to have her back, particularly as she will have a new album out to coincide with her latest UK Tour.
Lynne's songs are familiar and comfortable, yet fearless and strong.  Live her performances are polished and rocking, as those who attended last year's concert will testify.  This time around The Good Intentions will consist of Brodie Mohninger on lead guitar, MJ Dandeneau on bass and Shawn Killaly on drums.  The band are known for their hard living style of music, mixing gritty ballads with driving roots tinged guitar.
Supporting will be ex Rita Payne member Rhiannon Scutt.  Since her last appearance Rhiannon has been busy writing new songs and will give them an airing at this concert.

Advanced Tickets for the concert are priced at £12.50 and can be obtained from the usual outlets.  They are on sale now.

Introducing Original Dutch Funk Unit The Jig

The Jig

Gut-Grinding Amsterdam Funk Machine
With a Rock ’n’ Roll Attitude

A seven piece funk outfit The Jig recently celebrated the release of its third album Proximo Disco.

The Jig is is one of few genuine professional funk bands, a tight pack that writes and plays only original tunes. Funk is an essential element of most popular music including hiphop, pop, disco and dance. The Jig from Amsterdam delivers the real deal, sounding urgent and up-to-date with their feverish horns, hairdo-disrupting guitar, sawing synths plus Hammond, face-slapping bass and uptight drums. They performed on many prominent stages and festivals in Holland and toured regularly through Germany, Belgium, Spain, France, USA and Brazil.

On Proximo Disco the band collaborates for the first time with a singer on three tracks: Mr. Ruben Seyferth. Although the instrumental band despises singers in general, they love Mr. Ruben who is joining the group for a large part of the set on live occasions. His voice can be described as a combination of Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Prince.

Those who have seen the band perform know The Jig invariably delivers a powerful, tight, passionate and festive live show.

‘Perfect combination of dirty greasy P-funk, the rolling rhythms of The Meters and the high quality performance of Tower of Power. Virtuosic solo’s, eager playing & fun. Go see them live!’ - Jazzism Magazine

album is packed with heavy funk with a rock ’n’ roll attitude combined with soul, afro, jazz and more. On Proximo Disco The Jig sounds more diverse and catchier than ever.

Latest News from the Playing For Change Foundation

Playing For Change Foundation
Bringing change to the township of Gugulethu, South Africa

This year marks a decade of the Playing For Change Foundation; join us in celebrating 10 years of positive change through music as we highlight one of our music programs each month starting with the first school in South Africa.

South Africa was where we first broke ground with the Playing For Change Foundation music program in 2007. Since then, the Playing For Change Foundation has expanded programmatic efforts in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Each week 100+ students from 10 area primary schools attend weekly music classes at the Imvula Music Program in Gugulethu. These classes include lessons in guitar, vocals, drums, saxophone and keyboard/piano, as well as dance and marimba, and are led by six talented teachers.

One Love,
The PFC Foundation team
