TOWN HALL LIVE FRIDAY 1ST NOVEMBER BIRDS OF CHICAGO with support from DANNY BRADLEY 'Birds of Chicago reassert the simple notion that beautiful word and music can tap a deep vein of emotion.  They seduce you with their joyous, intimate, rousing and hauntingly evocative lyrics.' Birds of Chicago are the collective centred around Jeremy (JT) Lindsay and Allison Russell.  On their current UK Tour they will be joined by ace guitarist Steve Dawson, Prior to 2012 Jeremy and Allison played in different bands, Allison with Po' Girl and Jeremy with JT & The Clouds.  Both played at THL with these bands.  They joined forces in 2013, and Jeremy found himself a transcendental vocal muse in Allison and the band honed it's chops by playing 200 shows a year between 2013 & 2017.  Together, there is a unmistakable chemistry, with Jeremy finding the perfect voice for his rock and roll psalms.  Both sing, Jeremy plays guitar, whilst Allison plays banjo, percussion and out of this world clarinet. Their latest album 'Love in Wartime' contains one memorable song after another, with each tune creating it's own musical suite filled with spiraling melodic beauty.  With 'Love in Wartime' they have created a buzz and have broken through to a much wider audiences throughout America the UK and Europe.  It particularly the cast at Festivals, where over the last two summers they have played Celtic Connections, Cambridge Folk Festival, The Isle of Sky Festival and the Shrewsbury Folk Festival among others. The Mighty Doonans were formed from The Doonan Family Band, that included the then youngsters Mick Doonan, Kevin Doonan, Phil Murray  and Stu Luckley.  On forming The Mighty Doonans the four were joined by Ian 'Walter' Fairburn, along with the 'next generation' family members Frances Doonan, Rosie Doonan, Ben Murray and Jamie Luckley. The band have the ability to blend different genres of music, dance and the occasional joke into their act.  It leads to a thoroughly enjoyable evening that delights every audience they play in front of.  They deliver the traditions and influences with powerhouse arrangements, such as Same Cooke's 'Bring it on Home' and sensitive interpretations of songs like Eddie Pickford's 'Johnny Miner'. To complete our 2019 Programme the last show of the year, on Saturday 14th December features THE ELLES BAILEY BAND It will be the perfect way to end the year.  Elles Bailey has a talent for crafting and seamlessly weaving roots, blues and soul music to give her songs a contemporary edge.  She is a powerhouse performer. TOWN HALL LIVE   OUR NEXT CONCERT IS ON BANK HOLIDAY MONDAY 7TH MAY  BIRDS OF CHICAGO In so many ways we are a word weary culture, ever searching for ways to communicate in fewer and fewer syllables.  Our on line, blogged out, Yor tubed attention spans are truncated and fragmented like never before, BIRDS OF CHICAGO the collective centred around Jeremy Lindsay (aka JT Nero) and Allison Russell, reassert the simple notion that beautiful words and music can still tap deep veins of emotion. The band were formed in 2012, when Nero began writing for his vocal star muse Russell.  Both were accomplished singer song writers of their own, Jeremy with his band, JT & The Clouds and Allison with the acclaimed roots outfit Po'Girl, but together there was an unmistakable chemistry.  JT had found the perfect voice for his rock and roll psalms, whilst Allison moved from being the primary songwriter to interpreter. Both JT & The Clouds and Po'Girl played Town Hall Live in the early days and Birds of Chicago last played Kirton in 2013.  In the five years since, the band have developed a fervent following across America, touring 200 dates a year, sometimes as a five piece band and sometimes as a four piece.  They have released four albums and they are back in the UK to promote their latest CD 'Love in Wartime' which is released in on May 4th, and excellent it is too. Bristol based Elles has a talent for seamlessly weaving roots, blues and rock, with a contemporary edge.  After releasing 2 EP's in 2016, she released her debut album, 'Wildfire' in September 2017.  The album attracted 5 star reviews across the music press, and the lead single from it was supported by BBC Radio 2.  Elles recorded the album at the world famous Blackbird studios in Nashville with top producer Brad Nowell.  It features some of Nashville's top musicians and was 'blended' back in the UK.  The result is a unique coming together of trans-Atlantic styles. Elles will perform with her band that includes Joe Wilkins on lead guitar, Zak Raymond on bass and Tom Gilkes on drums, with Elles trademark husky vocals providing the lead. Supporting Elles will be Bridlington singer song writer Gracie Falls, who in 2016 won the UK Unsigned Artist Award. TOWN HALL LIVE   OUR NEXT CONCERT IS ON SATURDAY 3RD FEBRUARY, 2018 we present an evening with WILSON & WAKEMAN A guaranteed evening of entertainment from two of the UK's finest musicians - great musicianship, singing, songs and atmosphere, you can't ask for much more.   Featuring DAMIAN WILSON on vocals and acoustic guitar and ADAM WAKEMAN on keyboards, vocals and acoustic guitar.  The duo will be playing songs from their individual back catalogues and from artists they have worked with, along with tracks from their duo album 'Weir Keepers Tales' and Damian's latest solo album 'Built for Fighting' intertwined with stories and memories from their touring careers.  It is a show that should not be missed. DAMIAN WILSON is widely known for his contribution to the progressive rock genre, as lead singer with bands such as Threshold, Headspace and Landmarq.  He has appeared on over 70 albums and had released five solo albums.  He is a respected guest vocalist, working with Rick Wakeman's English Rock Ensemble, Mostly Autumn, Praying Mantis and others.  He played the lead role of Jean Valjean in Les Miserables on their UK National Tour.  Damian has one of the most versatile voices in music with an incredible range. ADAM WAKEMAN is most well known as the keyboard player with Black Sabbath,  2017 was Adam's fourteenth year as a member of Ozzy Osbourne's band.  He has released nine albums with his father Rick and much of his early touring was with Rick.  They played all over the world, either with the two of them sitting at grand pianos or in full scale rock appearances with orchestras and choirs.  Adam is a highly sought after keyboard player and musical director.  His career has seen him tour, write and record with some of the biggest selling artists in the recording industry.  In 2016, he accompanied Callaghan on her second visit to Town Hall Live.  He has wanted to come back ever since and we feel privileged to put on this concert.  It is sure to be a magical evening. Her music is sometimes wild, introspective, celebratory, regretful, boisterous and gentle. It is American music dressed in rags, not rhinestones.  Hannah never shies away from honesty in her songs,  Her Alabama twang mixes with a rock edge and the songs are delivered with a burning intensity.  You cannot help but be moved by them.
