Between 1978 and 1981 the Drill Hall hosted Northern Soul All Niters – the place to go for many people travelling from around UK wanting to dance through the night. In 2016 we had a great reunion night and we are planning another All Dayer 12pm -12am for 2017! 

Once again honouring this fantastic venue, the people that DJ’d, created and danced through the night, the night will feature some of the original DJs alongside special guests. 12 hours of great records, dancing, seeing old friends and meeting new ones… a unique extravaganza! So get your talc out, chuck everything in your weekend bag and lets dance!

An Unfolding Theatre Production in association with Little Mighty:
Why do we stop playing? What might make us start again?

All those guitars propped up in bedrooms. Voices only heard in the shower. Drum kits taking too much space in garages.It’s time to blow off the dust. We’re putting the band back together!

Part riotous gig, part tender storytelling, Ross Millard (The Futureheads), Maria Crocker (Frantic Assembly, Open Clasp) and Alex Elliott (Northern Stage) reveal epic emotions within people’s relationships with music.

Scottish rock legends Big Country celebrate the 30th Anniversary of their classic second album ‘Steeltown’. They will be embarking on a three month long Steeltown tour, playing tracks from their iconic number one album plus their greatest hits. Big Country, featuring original members Bruce Watson and Mark Brzezicki, still retain the same energy, passion and unique sound that propelled them to the top 30 years ago. Secret Affair: 35th Anniversary Tour Friday 21 November 7.00 pm

Released in 1979, “Glory Boys” was the debut album from top mod revival band Secret Affair. The album featured the smash hit singles “Time for Action” and “Let your heart dance”, and was a massive commercial and creative success featuring nine original songs from Ian Page & David Cairns along with a cover of Smokey Robinson’s “Going to a go-go”. To celebrate this seminal album’s 35th anniversary Secret Affair have embarked on a UK tour…including this gig at the Drill Hall which takes place almost 35 years to the day since they last played at the venue.
