Two Great Gigs Coming Up at Kirton Town Hall

TOWN HALL LIVE

WE HAVE TWO CONCERTS COMING UP IN QUICK SUCCESSION AND THE WILL BOTH BE FANTASTIC - THE FIRST IS ON

FRIDAY 7TH SEPTEMBER

with GREG RUSSELL & CIARAN ALGAR
Greg Russell and Ciaran Algar are two time BBC Folk Award winners and are two of the most sought after UK folk-rock duos.
It could be their pull no punches song writing.  It could be Russell's remarkable voice and Algar's distinctive and fluid fiddle.  It could be their take on traditional songs, their empathy, infectious concerts or the way they tackle topical issues.  Whatever it is, Greg Russell and Ciaran Algar have got it
Since they got together in 2011 the pair have released four albums, the latest of which ' Utopia & Wasteland' came out at the beginning of 2018.  All four contain mainly self penned songs, telling stories and issue relevant statements about the world past and present.
All feature Greg's superb guitar playing and voice that is ideally suited to the folk genre, whilst award winning fiddle player drives the music along.
Live they bounce off each other, with entertaining tales of life on the road and beyond.

Their camaraderie and playing is infectious and leads to a thoroughly entertaining evening.
Supporting will be Leeds Trio THE HEATHEN KINGS who last year released their latest EP 'From Bedlam to Babylon' and contains a fine set of songs.  They are a perfect fit for Greg and Ciaran.
Advance Tickets are £12.50 and can be obtained from the One Stop store in Kirton, from Brian on 01652 649230 or brianchudley@btinternet.com or from www.wegottickets.com
Venue:  Town Hall, Market Square, Kirton in Lindsey, N Lincs, DN21 4LZ

THE SECOND IS ON
SATURDAY 15th SEPTEMBER
when we welcome
AMANDA ANNE PLATT & THE HONEYCUTTERS back to Kirton

Last August Amanda and The Honeycutters played one of the best THL concerts ever to a sold out audience.  Based in Asheville, North Carolina performing along with Amanda will be Matt Smith on pedal steel and guitar, Rick Cooper on bass, Josh Milligan on drums and harmony vocals and Evan Martin on keys and guitar.
The band undertook their first UK tour last year and it was an outstanding success with many sold out shows.  This year's concert is the penultimate date of the tour.  The bands' back catalogue is a match for anyone's.  There is an emphatic and charming wit to Amanda's song writing.  She has a knack for accessing a deep well of emotion and applying it to her story telling. Her singing song writing and presence in unmatched in Americana.  She is simply breath taking and so good it's ridiculous, her singing, song writing and presence is unmatched in American music.
Supporting is Dan Webster, who has just released his latest album 'Devil Sky' and will be showcasing it at this concert.

Upcoming Kirton #TownHallLive UK gigs

TOWN HALL LIVE - KIRTON

Thanks to all who attended the last concert by The Honeycutters.  The band put on a super show in front on a sell out audience.  Rhiannon Scutt played a wonderful support slot also  You can see some of the photographs from the evening here
OUR NEXT CONCERT IS ON
SATURDAY 16TH SEPTEMBER 2017
with
THE BLACK FEATHERS
with support from PAUL McClure
and a special guest performance from KATE ELLIS

Doors 7pm, the music will start at approximately 7:30pm

The BLACK FEATHERS –‘Mesmerising and stunning in equal measures – gorgeous close harmonies, two voices paired to perfection’.
When The Black Feathers last appeared at Town Hall Live, in August 2015, they were just about to release their debut album ‘Soaked to the Bone’.  The album met with critical claim on radio and the UK Music press.  One year later they released a stunning live album ‘Live at the Convent’.
The Black Feathers are Ray Hughes and Sian Chandler, who draw their influence from a number of wells, with Americana, folk and indie rock sensibilities co-existing comfortably in their musical world, with Ray’s guitar work buoying the kind of harmonies often only heard in family bands.  The pure emotion and subtle timing of their song delivery is as evident as the enjoyment radiating from their on stage chemistry.
The duo got together in 2012 and have been busy touring ever since, enticing and captivating audiences as they go.  In 2014 they released their debut EP ‘Strangers We Meet’ and later that year embarked on a seven week tour of America.
They followed that up last year with a two month stint in the States and also supported Eddi Reader on her Irish tour.  They were busy throughout 2016 and it would have been easy to rest on their laurels, but instead have been busy working on new material, which they are planning to release as a set of 3 EP’s before the end of this year.

Supporting will be PAUL McCLURE, ‘The Rutland Troubadour’.  Paul is an incredibly talented songwriter with big catchy melodies.  His songs are at times very humourous, rebellious, sometimes very sad, but always honest.  Earlier in the year he toured with his band, The Local Heroes, but now he is back playing solo.  His material mirrors his personality, confident, warm, original, individual and guaranteed to make you smile.

Also on the bill will be KATE ELLIS, an American singer song writer who was born in Louisiana, raised in New York and now based in London.  In June this year Kate released her debut album ‘Carve Me Out, which was described as ‘Haunting and beautiful – a soulful album, brand new yet classically timeless.  Thick Nanci Griffith with a modern twist’ – Lyric Magazine

Saturday 4th Febuary, 2017

For our second concert of the year we are delighted to welcome back Amanda Rheaume and her band to Town Hall Live.
Amanda, from Ottawa, is an award winning artist with a powerful, slightly gritty, deeply personal and instantly accessible folk-roots sound.
Her increasing success in Canada, Europe and the UK stems from her ability to translate personal stories into messages, evoking a feeling of positivity to connect with her listeners.
In July, 2016 Amanda released her fourth album 'Holding Patterns', which contains twelve descriptive songs some of which champions her native Indian heritage (Red Dress, in particular), whilst 'The Day The Mountain Fell' tells the incredible survival of her two year old cousin from a landslide.
Amanda is a star in Canada, having performed at opening and closing ceremonies of several top sporting events.  She has spearheaded Bluebird North's songwriting showcase and performed for troops in Afghanistan.  In 2014 she was awarded the Canadian Folk Music Award and was nominated for a Juno award for her album 'Catch A Fire'
In November 2016 she toured Germany and Holland and now she is back in the UK for a 16 date tour.  She will be joined by ace guitarist Anders Drerup and Anna Ruddick on electric and upright bass.
