TOWN HALL LIVE FRIDAY 14TH FEBRUARY 2020 AMY SPEACE with support from ALI SPERRY 'Amy Speace's songs hang together like a short story collection, united from a common vantage point and common predicaments.  It is a gift to hear a heart so modest even when it is wide open,' Nashville based Amy Speace is a timeless, classic singer and songwriter.  She has one of the richest and loveliest voices and her songs are luxuriously smart.  Since her discovery in 2006 by folk pop icon Judy Collins, Amy has been heralded as one of the leading voices of the new generation of American singers.  From her beginnings in New York as a classically trained actress with the National Shakespeare Company, Amy started playing her own songs in Greenwich Village Coffee Houses, before moving to East Nashville in 2009. Since then she has released six critically acclaimed albums, the latest of which 'Me and the Ghost of Charlemagne' is just superb. Amy has played at Glastonbury, The Cambridge Folk Festival, and most recently The Long Road Festival.  She is also a gifted writer and has published essays in the New York Times,  The American Songwriter and other high profile magazines.   Now Amy embarks on her latest UK tour to showcase 'The Ghost of Charlemagne'.  Her THL concert is the last of five dates. Robbie performs self penned, un-scrubbed tales of heartbreak, love loss and discovery.  When he puts pen to paper he lives by his own words.  He writes with honesty, emotion, and most important instinctively.  He sings with clear, soothing vocals and a gentle manner. Over the years he has been championed by BBC Radio 2's Bob Harris, who has invited him to perform at Festival and Showcases across the UK and America. Birds of Chicago @ Kirton In Lindsay Town Hall on 1st November 2019

TOWN HALL LIVE FRIDAY 1ST NOVEMBER BIRDS OF CHICAGO with support from DANNY BRADLEY 'Birds of Chicago reassert the simple notion that beautiful word and music can tap a deep vein of emotion.  They seduce you with their joyous, intimate, rousing and hauntingly evocative lyrics.' Birds of Chicago are the collective centred around Jeremy (JT) Lindsay and Allison Russell.  On their current UK Tour they will be joined by ace guitarist Steve Dawson, Prior to 2012 Jeremy and Allison played in different bands, Allison with Po' Girl and Jeremy with JT & The Clouds.  Both played at THL with these bands.  They joined forces in 2013, and Jeremy found himself a transcendental vocal muse in Allison and the band honed it's chops by playing 200 shows a year between 2013 & 2017.  Together, there is a unmistakable chemistry, with Jeremy finding the perfect voice for his rock and roll psalms.  Both sing, Jeremy plays guitar, whilst Allison plays banjo, percussion and out of this world clarinet. Their latest album 'Love in Wartime' contains one memorable song after another, with each tune creating it's own musical suite filled with spiraling melodic beauty.  With 'Love in Wartime' they have created a buzz and have broken through to a much wider audiences throughout America the UK and Europe.  It particularly the cast at Festivals, where over the last two summers they have played Celtic Connections, Cambridge Folk Festival, The Isle of Sky Festival and the Shrewsbury Folk Festival among others. The Mighty Doonans were formed from The Doonan Family Band, that included the then youngsters Mick Doonan, Kevin Doonan, Phil Murray  and Stu Luckley.  On forming The Mighty Doonans the four were joined by Ian 'Walter' Fairburn, along with the 'next generation' family members Frances Doonan, Rosie Doonan, Ben Murray and Jamie Luckley. The band have the ability to blend different genres of music, dance and the occasional joke into their act.  It leads to a thoroughly enjoyable evening that delights every audience they play in front of.  They deliver the traditions and influences with powerhouse arrangements, such as Same Cooke's 'Bring it on Home' and sensitive interpretations of songs like Eddie Pickford's 'Johnny Miner'. To complete our 2019 Programme the last show of the year, on Saturday 14th December features THE ELLES BAILEY BAND It will be the perfect way to end the year.  Elles Bailey has a talent for crafting and seamlessly weaving roots, blues and soul music to give her songs a contemporary edge.  She is a powerhouse performer. TOWN HALL LIVE In September two top class concerts, the first is on Friday 13th September THE JOSH BURNELL BAND with support from CROOKED WEATHER  Josh Burnell got a great reaction when supporting The Once earlier this year.  On that occasion he was accompanied by Frances Sladen on vocals and Holly Brandon on violin.  They were so good that we just had to have them back with their full band.  The other members are Nathan Greaves on guitar, Jack Woods on mandolin and acoustic guitar, Matthew Melford on bass and Ed Simpson on drums. Whilst growing up, Josh was drawn to progressive rock music and more recently began listening to traditional music.  He has blended the two styles to create something quite unique. He created great interest in the folk world and the general music scene in 2018 with his ambitious 'Seasons Project', which saw him release one song a week for a whole year.  Fourteen favourites were chosen for his 'Songs for a Season' album, which got several 5* reviews in the British Music press. Over the past two years they have gone down a storm at many festivals, such as Folk East, Music Port, Beardy Festival, The Great British Folk Festival and Costa Del Folk.  Earlier this year embarked on their first full length UK tour, which culminated in a show at Cecil Sharp House in London.  The band have a great future ahead of them.  We guarantee that you will have not seen their likes before. The monthly sessions have developed into having guest musicians play and now they take the format  out across the country as The Chorlton Country Club Revue.  The shows will feature a host of special guests including Robbie Cavanagh, Demi Marriner and Joe Martin. The seven date tour will celebrate their debut studio album 'Volume 1' released on their own 'Triple C' record label.  The album features some of the greatest American songs of the last fifty years, including Take It To The Limit (Eagles), To Love Somebody (The Bee Gees) and The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down (The Band). This will an evening of top class musicianship, some great songs, including many of Lauren's, great singing from Lauren and Tom. and some great cameos from Robbie, Demi and Joe.  Don't miss it.
