Introducing Steve Yarrington-Jazz Guitarist:

Introducing Steve Yarrington-Jazz Guitarist: Now available for bookings in the UK

Steve’s style centre’s on the “swing” of the earliest electric guitarists in jazz.  His approach is to strip down the “Big Band” genre, to show how these guitarists might have sounded “swinging” with just a trio.

Steve currently has three jazz guitar albums on release - available through iTunes and Amazon - which offer an eclectic mix of tunes, many of which are his own compositions, but all played with Steve’s “swinging” style.

Steve and his team have been concentrating on promotion in the USA, where Steve’s music is extensively played on-air and receives very favourable responses from listeners, both in the USA and around the world.

Album review:  “In ‘Sketches’, Steve interprets familiar tunes…in a new light, giving them new accents.  Steve Yarrington: the name is definitely in my future ‘Jazz Bag’ – I like!”

“Swing Jazz at its best: Steve Yarrington – Sketches” (Marcus Muller – eezyvibes 23.01.13)

Steve is now available for bookings, either as a solo performer (using resident drummer and double bass player); or with his own trio. He is also available for guitar workshops at festivals, as required.

Also Steve’s music is now available for review.

Sat 2nd
The Nicol Blues Band (Blues/Rock) The lean, raw spirit of the blues runs through the core of this Hull quartet, playing tracks by Hendrix, Clapton, John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers, Stevie Winwood and others, plus a few of their own compositions, this well-seasoned bunch show how it’s done.  They are a fantastic band with Les Nicol, who has a musical pedigree as long as his arm, must be one of the finest blues guitarists to grace any stage. 9pm start
Fri 8th
Acoustic Night Our monthly session featuring the very talented Katie Abbott who describes herself as a folk singer/song writer and who will be performing a mixed set, daughter Maddy will be invited to share the stage and who has an equally amazing voice, starting at 10pm.  We would also like to invite those who like to have a play and join in or, if they wish, play a few songs solo before our featured guest starts (please bring your own instruments). The idea is to enjoy a nice sedate evening soaking up the easy listening music that acoustic instruments offer.  (no electric). 8pm start
Sat 9th
Verbal Warning (Old Skool Punk Rock) The Spirit of 1977, this Nottingham band has entertained Old Nicks’ audiences on several occasions much to the appreciation of all. 9pm start.
Sat 16th
Ambush (Classic Rock Covers) Ambush is a classic rock covers band with a great singer that covers the songs most bands don't, Def Leppard, Dio, Deep Purple etc. Featuring Andy Green from Still Remains UK on Guitar and backing vocals.  9pm start
Sat 23rd
Unfinished Business (Classic Rock/Blues).  This 5 piece with twin guitars and a big sound will be playing tracks that revolve around blues-influenced rock covers by the likes of Cream, Free and Gary Moore, with a few less obvious twists such as Ten Years After and Lenny Kravitz.  True classic rock / blues from the 60s and 70s.  9pm start
Sat 30th
Basket Case (New Wave/Pop/Punk) Technically known as a four-piece new-wave pop punk cheesy covers band. Basket Case ‘rattle’ out songs like a machine gun on heat, if there’s a world record for songs per hour these boys must hold it, if Basket Case were a sports car, Jeremy Clarkson would be at the wheel. Playing an archive of punk classics from The Ramones, Clash, Ruts, Buzzcocks, Tempole Tudor and many more.  An all round entertaining band. 9pm start
