Larry is a five-time Blues Music Award nominee, for Most Promising Artist, and for Contemporary Male Blues Artist. Larry was inducted into the Louisiana Blues Hall of Fame in 2002. The BBC honoured Larry as its Bluesman of the Year, and Larry was honoured as Blues Songwriter of the Year three times. Larry was twice named Bluesman of the Year Award by Real Blues Magazine. "If you haven't discovered the blues brilliance of Larry Garner, then you should jump on this bandwagon. These are blues for today, good to the last note stuff." - Big City Blues American bluesman Larry Garner has found a true musical soul mate in British blues veteran Norman Beaker. Garner may have paid his dues in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, while Beaker cut his gigging teeth in northern England with people such as Alexis Korner , Jack Bruce, Jimmy Rogers, BB King etc ; put them on stage together, and they are definitely drawing from the same musical roots. Garners powerful vocals and expressive musicianship make him a natural front man his songs are delivered with a sense of irony with lyrics that are both meaningful and amusing, added to this Larry has a wonderfully expressive voice, is a fine guitarist and a great performer.

Larry was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where he picked up on the Swamp Blues music popular in that area, inspired by artistes such as Silas Hogan and Clarence Edwards, he has won just about every award including WC Handy and BB King awards Like Larry, Norman’s songs are also full of social comment and modern day situations, this is a coming together of two modern day Troubadours with something new

Following a truly magical string of Nic and Joe Jones live concerts last month, Nic Jones fans can now enjoy a new Topic DVD containing the superb documentary shown last year on BBC Four.
 

The Enigma of Nic Jones DVD has the added bonus of seven complete performances of songs exclusive to this release:
The Nic Jones Trio perform three songs in rehearsal, 'Master Kilby', 'Rue The Day' and 'I Only Spoke Portuguese'; Eliza Carthy plays a stunning version of '10,000 Miles'; Blair Dunlop's interpretation of 'Canadee-I-O' clearly shows how Nic's guitar-playing influences younger performers, and Nic's former Bandoggs bandmate Pete Coe plays one of Nic's live staples, 'On a Monday Morning' and a Bandoggs favourite, 'Astley's Ride/Up and Away'.

In February 2013, Songwriter and theatre maker Tom Adams bought a slide projector and 500 slides from eBay. The slides were of people he did not know but he could not help asking, what is their story? 

Tom performs a live soundtrack of music, comedy and stories to these images in a gentle exploration of mortality. He also searches through images of his own life, placing them side by side with the strangers, wondering if his memories will, one day, be just a slide sold on eBay.

Acoustic Nights at the Turnor Arms Wragby

Acoustic Nights are recommencing at The Turnors in Wragby on Tuesday 28th October 2014. The organisers are expecting a bumper turnout

The evening will be dedicated to the memory of Richard Langridge  who was the original founder of our Wragby Acoustic gathering. The night will run in much the same way as it always has. Some friendly banter, a few good laughs, a few drinks and some good music with some good friends.

The Wragby Acoustic Nights have been running for many years now and they hope to keep them going for many more to come. The organisers look forward to seeing you on this SPECIAL SPECIAL NIGHT and hope that you will continue to join them in the future and enable us to always keep the last Tuesday of the month, in Wragby, special.
