STEPHANE GRAPPELLI
SUNDAY 3RD
MARCH 2019
Music starts at 7.30pm
Doors open at 7.00pm

A very welcome return
to the Club after a seven year gap for this sublime band, led by the superb
guitarist John Etheridge. Now celebrating their 19th year together, "Sweet
Chorus" was originally formed by John Etheridge as a personal tribute to his
mentor and inspiration that was Stephane Grappelli, with whom he worked for 5
years in the 1970's and early 1980's. Taking its cue from the Hot Club of France
- the legendary group that featured Grappelli and Django Reinhardt, the
band features John's dazzling guitar work together with the scintillating violin
of Christian Garrick. The relationship of these two musicians has been described
as one of the most brilliant sounds in European Jazz. Backed by the propulsive
drive of Dave Kelbie on rhythm guitar and Andy Crowdy on bass, the band produces
breathtaking choruses through repertoire both old and
new.
