WASSAIL! WASSAIL! ALL OVER THE TOWN @TopicRecords Christmas Newsletter

The latest news and special offers from Topic Records.

WASSAIL! WASSAIL! ALL OVER THE TOWN

December is upon us and, as Bob Copper sings in The Trees Are All Bare:
‘Now Christmas is come and our song is almost done
For we soon shall have the turn of the year.’

In a year that has seen a fond farewell to The Full English, a welcome to a stunning album and tour by Simpson-Cutting-Kerr, celebrations of Bob Copper and Ewan MacColl on the 100th anniversary of their births, 80th birthday parties for Shirley Collins and tours from Martin Simpson, Martin Carthy and Eliza Carthy, it’s clear that folk music continues to resonate loudly in our modern world, and Topic is proud to contribute to its ongoing evolution.

All of us at Topic wish everyone a peaceful Christmas in 2015.

All customers placing mail orders which are received by Topic up to midnight on Friday 18th December will be entered into a randomly chosen draw to win one of only 5 signed CD copies of Martin Carthy’s last Topic studio album, ‘Waiting for Angels’.

The Lincoln, UK, MashUp is Back! #lincolnartsmashup

The Lincoln, UK, MashUp is Back…

The second Lincoln Arts MashUp will take place on Wednesday 2nd December from 5.30pm once again at the Brewhaus on the corner of Silver St and Broadgate, in Lincoln, UK.

The first one, back in October, was amazingly well attended by around 30 local creatives and was a surprising success judging by the positive comments that were flying around, for which many thanks! Not that anything amazing happened (though the pizzas were pretty amazing) but that was never the idea – it’s just a very informal social / networky thing open to anyone who works or is involved in the creative sector in and around Lincoln. A chance to get together with other creative types and chat/goss/discuss, whatever… and the more the merrier so please spread the word.

There’s free pizza again this time (thanks again to Visit Lincoln) and the bar is very much open.

And half way through we offer a slot called the MixTape when anyone can grab the floor for a couple of minutes to tell us about a project, an idea, an event or a workshop that ‘s coming up… or put out a call for artists to collaborate… or ask for some advice… or just have a good old rant (constructive of course).  A number of ideas were discussed and/or emerged last time and I am looking forward to seeing how some of these might have developed or changed completely….
