Topic Records - Another Year Another Anniversary

another year
another anniversary
Welcome to our first newsletter of 2015. Whilst the Topic office recovers from our 75th anniversary celebrations, 2015 sees our colleagues at Fledg'ling Records begin to celebrate 21 years of idiosyncratic record releasing.

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Bob Copper's birth, Fledg'ling are releasing a new CD edition of the influential 1963
BOB & RON COPPER 'Traditional Songs from Rottingdean' album.
The package contains Bob Copper's notes and bears a striking resemblance to the original design. This is the album that influenced so many performers from the 'Revival' both here, in the United States and in Ireland.

During 2014 our 75th Anniversary monthly special offers proved to be very popular. Many of you took the opportunity to catch up with albums you were missing from your collection or purchase a gift for a friend.
We will be continuing with a series of attractively priced special offers each month throughout 2015.
The classic TOPIC CDs chosen for January at the special price of only £6.00 each are:

TSCD562  WATERSON:CARTHY ~ Holy Heathens & The Old Green Man
TSCD577  JUNE TABOR ~ Ashore

Those nice chaps at Fledg'ling will celebrate 21 years of the label with their own monthly special offers.
The CDs they have chosen for January at the special price of only £21.00 for this bundle of 4 classic albums from their catalogue are:

FLED 3037  ASHLEY HUTCHINGS, JOHN KIRKPATRICK & Chums  Morris On

Stocks are dwindling fast - this may be the last chance to acquire a set of limited edition Topic anniversary button badges at only £3.00

Happy New Year.

Friday 16th January

We are delighted that Canadian artist Ruth Moody and her band are able to play Town Hall Live enroute to perform at the Celtic Connections Festival in Glasgow on the 17th and 18th.
As a member of the internationally renowned trio The Wailing Jenny’s, Ruth has performed in sold out venues across the world and made numerous critically acclaimed albums.  Last year Ruth and band were invited to open for Mark Knopfler on his European tour and played 6 shows at the Royal Albert Hall.
Now she is coming to Kirton.  Don’t miss this opportunity to catch Ruth, we may never get the chance again!
Ruth is a captivating artist with incredible depth and grace.  She has garnered critical praise for her perfect pitch vocals, incredible playing and timeless song writing.  Her latest album ‘These Wilder Things is wonderful and scooped prizes at the Canadian Juno Awards in 2014.
Her band consists of Adam Dobres (guitars), Adrian Dolan (fiddle, mandolin, accordion)  and Sam Howard (upright bass).  All three are top musicians.
Support will come from Sheffield duo AnyTown.  They are Matt Taylor and Robin Baker.  Their 2014 album ‘Trouble On The Water’ was described by Claasic Rock Magazine as delicate, inviting and invigorating.
