ROD PICOTT

support Farewell

 Fairground

on

Saturday 6th

 February, 2016

It has been 16 years since Rod Picott laid down his work belt, picked up an acoustic guitar and put a permanent end to his gig as a sheet rock hanger.  He'd been writing music in private for years, but it was 2001's Tiger Tom Dixon Blues - a debut album that bridged the gap between folk and Americana - that officially introduced him as a singer/ songwriter, kick starting one of the more acclaimed careers in modern day roots music.  Since then, he has focused on a different kind of construction: building a catalogue of songs that spin stories of hard work, heartache and the human condition.
Since 2001 he has recorded seven albums the latest of which, 'Fortune' was released in September 2015.  With 'Fortune' he focuses in himself, strips bare what he found rattling around his heart and invites the listener to follow a deeper and more intimate journey.  The album has won 4 and 5 star reviews across the UK Music Press.
Live he his thoroughly entertaining, whilst his songs tell a story and make you think, his banter between songs makes you laugh and smile
Support will come from popular Hull trio Farewell Fairground, who are an acoustic band full of uniqueness, harmonies and charisma.  They are influenced by a range of artists such as Kodaline, Mumford & Sons and Kings of Leon.
Advance tickets are priced at £11.00.  Tickets can be obtained from the One Stop store in the town, from Brian on 01652 649230 or from www.wegottickets.com
They will be £13.00 on the door

LAUREN HOUSLEY and

 her Band

on Saturday 27th February

Lauren Housley is a rising star of the UK music scene.  She has recently been heard on the Terry Wogan (in session), Chris Evans, Bob Harris and Jeremy Vine shows on BBC Radio 2.
Lauren sings a soulful blend of blues and Americana and is compared to the likes of Bonnie Raitt, Elkie Brooks and Dusty Springfield.
She will be appearing with her band that consists of Thomas Dibb on guitars, Mark Lewis on bass, Chris Hillman on pedal steel, dobro and mandolin and Craig Hanson on drums.
Live, her voice is as powerful and subtle as can be heard on her album 'Sweet Surrender'.  She creates music that crosses over soul, blues, country and rock barriers, whilst all the time reaching out to the mainstream.
Support will come from Leeds University music student Skye, who first appeared at Town Hall Live as a 16 year old in 2012.
Advance Tickets for this concert will be £12.00, and can be obtained from the usual outlets.
Following the Lauren Housley concert are two acts that played sold out concerts in 2015.
First up on Saturday 19th March is CALLAGHAN
and then on Friday 8th April we welcome back

King commented, “Norman is like a white Freddie King”, a rare compliment indeed and testimony to Norman's merits as a superb frontman.
Those Norman has subsequently worked with include B.B. King, Chuck Berry, Buddy Guy, Jimmy Rogers, Lowell Fulson, Van Morrison, Fenton Robinson, Carey Bell, Jon Lord, James Booker, Ruby Turner, Robert Plant, and many others.
The Beaker Band is one of the hardest-working bands on the circuit and tour permanently with Larry Garner and of course Chris Farlowe.

It's the first Lincoln Arts MashUp of 2016. #lincolnartsmashup #newvie16 @mrholly68

It's the first Lincoln Arts MashUp of 2016.

Hosted this time by LPAC as part of the brilliant NewVolutions free festival of new work which runs from 17 - 23 Jan www.lpac.co.uk, the MashUp will be held in the Cafe at LPAC on Weds 20th Jan from 5.30pm till around 7pm.

Please come along - the bar will be open, there will be snacks and there will be plenty of chat, networking and probably some gossip.

..
And half way through there's a chance for anyone to take the floor for a couple of minutes to tell us all about a particular project, to ask for advice, to suggest a collaboration or pretty much anything else.
Please forward / tweet / facebook and generally spread the word!
See you there :-)
