Lauren's debut album 'Sweet Surrender' is a killer, no filler affair with a number of tracks already play listed or on prime spot play on Radio 2 by the likes of Chris Evans, Terry Wogan , Jeremy Vine, Bob Harris and Robert Elms. all of whom know a good tune when they hear one. Lauren sings a soulful blend and Americana and can be compared to the likes of Bonnie , Elkie Brooks and Dusty Springfield.  She is that good Live, her voice is powerful or as subtle as you hear on record, if not more so.  Seeing her perform you really appreciate the fullness and texture of her voice, whilst being hypnotised by her commanding stage presence.  For her Town Hall Live concert she will perform with her band that consists of Thomas Dibb on guitars and keyboards, Chris Hillman on pedal steel and dobro, Mark Lewis on bass and Craig Hanson on drums. Support will be by Skye who is making a welcome return to Kirton.  It is three years since this Leeds University music student last played THL as a 17 year old. Callaghan's voice is unmistakable.  Her eclectic American pop sound stands out like a gem.  She is a truly talented performer and is a favourite of Bob Harris, Jeremy Vine and Alex Lester. The week before her concert she will again play the C2C concert at Excel in London and is due to perform at Bob Harris's Under The Appletree Festival in Silverstone at the end of May. As Bob says 'Callaghan is a wonderful artist, beautiful, warm and hugely talented'.   We know that to be true. Former Drill Hall House Manager talks about the experience and lessons learned in a lifetime dominated by railways, music and politics. From living in rented rooms as a child through working on steam trains, playing in a 70's rock band, getting involved in politics to working in the arts and creative sector. Along the way he studied part time to get a degree with the Open University and became involved with charity work in Zimbabwe.

Keith is  now retired and likes to spend time busking and playing occasional solo gigs in pubs and the like.

Two new titles in The Voice of the People series from Topic Records

It was great altogether!   On 18th March 2016 Topic will proudly release the latest volumes in the widely-acclaimed ongoing series of traditional music from these islands, The Voice of the People;  nearly 200 tracks of the most vital, dynamic music made by Irish immigrants in London over the last six decades make up two 3CD sets: TSCD679T "It was mighty!"  There wasn't a corner of what was to become Greater London in the 1950s where there wasn't some Irish music to be heard, if you knew where to find it. This special collection of recordings presents and explores the fine examples of the music-making of those immigrants from rural Ireland who settled in London in the first couple of decades after the War. TSCD680T "It was great altogether!"  This compilation explores the traditional Irish music which has continued to secure a place for itself in London throughout the last fifty years; demonstrating both the "old" music, completely untouched by the goings-on in Irish popular music, and the traditional music from the current scene led by second and third generation musicians.    This year’s Record Store Day celebrations take place on Saturday 16th April. On the day, Topic will be releasing an exclusive 7” vinyl single by Martin Simpson and some of his musical friends. A double A-side, the single features Martin with Andy Cutting and Tom A.
